Zach Heckler statement

ericharrisblog:

Zach Heckler was a senior at Columbine High School and friend with Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

Zach stated that he was good friends with Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold sine at least the 8th grade

He stated that re recalled seeing Dylan Klebold the first day of their freshman year, but it was not until the second semester of that school year that he had a class with Dylan. Eric Harris would come into the class from an adjoining classroom and talk to Dylan, during which time he was able to get to know Eric Harris also.
He said that often did things together, and admitted that 2 years ago he had accompanied Eric and Dylan as they drove around Eric Harris neighborhood and threw firecrackers in front of the houses of people Eric didn’t like.

Zach described Dylan as quiet, a Chemical Brothers fan, and a member of the sound crew for various school plays and other functions. Whereas Dylan had wanted to go to college and study computer science, Zach did not think he was smart enough. He stated Dylan had a problem with alcohol and as a result had been given the nickname “Vodka”

Zach described Eric as, in addition to begin a racist, feeling superior to other people, and being frustrated with problems he was having at home. He said he had been told that Eric’s parents were very strict and did not approve of many things he was doing. Zach explained that during the past summer, Eric had changed his manner of dress and th type of music he listened to. Zach identified the German group Rammstein as being Eric’s favorite. He also identified a video game, “Postal” as being a game Eric often played, and noted it involved nothing but killing. He said Eric did not have a steady girlfriend, and as asked Sabrina Cooley to attend the Senior Prom with him, but she had refused.

Zach stated he regularly bowled with Eric and Dylan on Friday nights from 11:30pm – 22:15am at Belleview Lanes on South Federal. Monica Shuster and Robyn Anderson also bowled with them.

  • He noted in his freshman year he had been given the nickname “Kibble” because of his bringing snack to school. He eventually modified this to “KIBBZ” which became his e-mail password. He noted during this freshman year* that password had been used by other friends of his. He identified Eric as using the password “REB DOOMER”
  • He noted on one occasion, Eric had asked him with assistance in setting up a web page from which various sound effects could be obtained. He noted that both Eric and Dylan made a number of videos.

He noted that an intro for RNN (Rebel News Network) showing a dark figure in a trench Coat igniting the letters “RNN” was filmed by Eric behind the Blackjack Pizza at which they had all worked for a time

He explained that his relationship with Eric had slacked off approximately 1 ½ years ago when he (Zach) had got into trouble ay school for hacking into the school computer and obtaining locker combinations of other students. Eric had been involved in this incident, and as result his father had restricted them from being together.
– He stated that the Summer of 1998, Eric Harris really didn’t like him for some reason, but Zach Heckler stated that he was still good friends with Dylan Klebold

– In February 99 Zach attended a party at Robyn Anderson’s home and that Eric was also at this party. The two of them had both been at each other’s throats for quite some time, but at the party, Eric approached him and asked him how he was doing. They began talking about things and about their future plans. They had left the party and they drove in their own vehicles to King Soopers. Zach had gone into King Soopers to buy a pop and a candy bar, and Eric had gone into the store to buy a pop. The two of them met back at their cars, during which time they had a short conversation. Besides buying a can of pop, Eric also bough a box of bleach. When he asked Eric why he bough the box of bleach, Eric responded “he was going to try it”. Then Zach asked what he was going to do with the box of bleach and Eric responded that he was going to try to make napalm with. Zach stated that before this, Eric already had come to him and expressed an interest in making napalm. Zach stated that Eric Harris wanted to know if he knew how to do it, and Zach answered that he did not know how napalm was made. Zach stated that the last time he saw Eric was at the “after prom” but that he did not talk to him at that time.
Zach stated that he saw Dylan at the prom, but did not talk to him very much during this activity. He saw Dylan and Robyn at the after prom, but again, did not spend much time with him.
– He stated that he did “phone ring” with Dylan Sunday night, April 18th, 1999. Zach stated he would telephone him later at night and play “Quake” or just be on the speaker phones with him, during which time they really did not talk with each other.
– He recalled passing by Dylan in the hallway on Monday 19th, 1999 and that night, he telephoned him at approximately 10:30pm and Dylan told him that he really wasn’t in the mood to talk and just wanted to go to bed, and he would see him the next day. Zach thought this was kind of odd because Dylan normally doesn’t get off the phone until 12:30am to 1:00am on most nights. This was the last time he spoke with Dylan

Zach advised that Dylan never mentioned anything to him about being involved in making bombs or any other explosives devices. However Dylan did “slip” once, during which time he told him that he had gotten something that was “really cool”. Dylan told him that was something that was in “Desperado” a Tarantino movie. He stated that Dylan made this comment to him in February 1999. Later Zach stated that Dylan had told him that he had obtained a double barrel shotgun and that Eric also had a shotgun and the gun was like the one in the “Desperado” movie. Dylan also told him that he had fired this weapon. After this conversation that took place in February 99, Dylan never brought this issue up again with him.
