What are your thoughts on victim Daniel Rohrbough’s father supposedly stating that the shootings were a result of America’s “culture of death”— where he said things such as legalized abortion and removal of religious vestiges from classrooms were partly to blame? đŸ€”

It’s fundamentalist Christian propaganda, his church’s justification for why it happened. The only people in agreement with him are of the same church and/or staunch right-wing conservatives. While he’s entitled to his opinion, I don’t personally resonate with it..and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. Plus, let’s not forget that the Christian religion has a horrible history of violence (and mass death) in it’s asserting it’s power and control in the name of God.

Do you know if Eric had a history of an explosive temper before Littleton?

No, I don’t believe so. At least, not that we know of. His temper became a thing after his family moved the umpteenth time and to a place he hated out of all the places they’d moved to. Given Eric’s age range by the time they moved to Colorado, it’s likely a combination of unexpressed emotions/rage and hormones surging to a head. All his medication did was put a band-aid over it.

Where, exactly, did they find Eric and Dylan’s journals? Do you think they were intended to be found?

The journals (journal and day planner) were found in Harris’ bedroom by police following the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history. They were placed in a location that was easily visible to the police with the intent that they would find them.

On the Basement Tapes, Eric points to a blue spiral notebook which he describes as his “journal”.

They mention that they want to distribute the videos to four news stations & that Eric is going to scan his journal & then send copies by e-mail & distribute blue prints and maps.

“This is the book of God”

“Somehow, I’ll publish these. This is the thought process, the evolution I’ve gone through for the past year.”

Harris, upon opening a journal outlining the Columbine attack.

versus..

Dylan’s, in which there was no concerted, deliberate intent that they be found by the police:

“These writings are always referred to as “journals,” but really these were scattered pages, compiled by the investigators after the fact. Most of them were taken from Dylan’s school notebooks, although some of the bits and pieces of paper he wrote on were old advertising flyers or other scraps, which he then tucked into various binders and books. The stack of photocopied pages was about half an inch thick. Some entries were a sentence long, while
others went on for pages.”

About Dylan’s ancestry. He’s actually not russian but Ukrainian. Ukraine is a whole other country that has nothing to do with russia. So, I’m a little bit confused why everyone says he’s russian.

Dylan’s maternal ancestors, the Yassenoffs, were originally from Russia, more specifically Ukraine, which was under Russian rule at the time (and would be until 1991).  The city they lived in was called Yelisavetgrad (or Elisavetgrad, or Elizabethgrad), now known as Kirovograd (or Kirovohrad), in the south central region of the country. See here for more details.

Do you think that people actually have killed themselves jus to be with Eric and Dylan?

I would expect that people have done all sorts of things in the name of E & D including that. However, doing so is no guarantee of being with those two knuckleheads. It’s a little egocentric for people to assume they have a one way ticket to those two. The boys aren’t being the same old peeps waiting in the beyond to just hang with y’all. They have their own spiritual business they’re working on..just as you will too, if and when it’s your time to be over there.

Eric had so many Aries placements his temper was practically a ticking time bomb jesus

Sun, Mars, Venus and Mercury in Fire-y Aries plus, a Scorpio Rising – makes for a volatile combination of Mars and Pluto energy.

The  Fire and Air dynamic works well together and as elements feed off each other agreeably in creative ways.  In a sense, like fanning the flames.

Dylan had five planets in the Air sign of Libra (Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto)  plus had a Libra Rising.  He also had Mars in Fire-y Leo.

In the partnership of Fire and Air working together, they are a winning dynamic like two good dance partners. But the two elements combined can either keep you warm in your house or burn the house down.

Did both boys just stop playing sports once they entered high school?

The summer before eighth grade, Dylnn had to take a break from pitching because of a painful inflammation that had developed around his tendons. He refrained from playing baseball until the following summer when he had begun to try out for the CHS baseball team. Around this time his dad had begun to develop Rheumatoid arthritis and the he had limited ability to practice with Dylan, who still had a sore arm at that time.  He didn’t make the team at high school and eventually stopped physically playing the sport.  Instead, he started a fantasy baseball league.

In high school years, Eric still played soccer as an extra curricular sport on a team called ‘The Columbine Rush’ which was not associated with his high school – obviously.  Eric had no desire to be on a any teams associated with CHS and scoffed in reply when Susan DeWitt asked him if the team he played for was part of his school.

So, in short: Eric continued to play sports but Dylan stopped.  It is sad when you consider baseball was Dylan’s passion.

Did Dylan ever tell his parents about bullying any other time besides the time when he was pelted with ketchup at school.

“In early January of 1998, Dylan told Tom about his frustration with a couple of kids at school who were “really asking for it.” The kids were freshmen, and Tom resisted the temptation to laugh: Dylan was six feet four inches tall, and a junior. Dylan told us he wanted to get some guys together to confront the boys. Tom and I told him not to give them the satisfaction of a response. I was worried someone would be hurt, and Tom was worried Dylan would embarrass
himself by engaging with freshmen. Dylan could not let it go. Without our knowledge, he and Eric rounded up some friends. They confronted the kids and told them to meet them at a spot away from school, but the younger
boys never appeared. Tom and I found out about the planned rumble after the fact. Dylan believed he had handled the situation effectively, but we were upset and told him so. At least, I thought, no one had been hurt.

Tom and I were aware of another incident. Junior year, Dylan had a parking space in a remote lot next to the school grounds. A few weeks after he confronted the freshmen, he told his father his car wasn’t running well. Tom found the hood flattened as if someone had stood on it, leaving an indentation deep enough to damage the fuse box. Dylan said he hadn’t noticed the
dent. Tom asked him outright if the freshmen had intentionally damaged his car. Dylan said he didn’t know when or how it had happened, although he was certain it had happened in the school parking lot. The car was old, and we’d never expected it to survive high school without a few dings. But our failure to find out what happened to it is one thing I regret.”

rebsmommy:

Me too ! I was thinking.. didn’t they have mugshots when they were arrested for the van break in ? @everlasting-contrast

Yeah, that would’ve been standard booking procedure. It’s curious as to why those were never released. Maybe the parents somehow prevented it. But can you just imagine the look on their poor deer-in-the-headlight faces waiting for their parents to show up? Omg. That’d be priceless! Lol

Do you think Dylan was an affectionate person? Like hugs with friends? Or demonstrative of his feelings?

No, I don’t think he was a natural at any of that. Dylan was far too shy for open displays of affection in public with friends, etc. A close friend would have to initiate a hug and showing their affection first. With a girlfriend, he’d kind of have to be gently nudged that it was okay to risk going to hug her in a greeting or taking her hand first. I think the receiving of affection is something he needed, craved, badly and so he’d grow pretty addicted to it once he became comfortable with someone. His mom said that when they were taking prom photos on their driveway, Dylan initiated putting his arm around Robyn though they laughed awkwardly. So, given that, we can see he was not at all adverse to being physically demonstrative. It just so happens he was with his close family members and with a girl he was good and comfortable friends with. The two also held hands in the limo on the way to prom. Dylan really wanted those things. In a way, it’s almost like he was letting go that night with his usual reserved conventions and trying on for size what it might be like to be physically close with a girl. Robyn was good, safe practice for him.. I’m sure in the Senior class photo that Robyn was the one that initiated putting her arm around him as they mocked gun shot at the camera. Unfortunately, the amazing risks he took at prom in being physically affectionate with the opposite sex and even, dancing with them, was the first and last time in his short life. It was a taste of what would never be for sweet Dylan. 😩
