Hmm, really? I’m not sure I agree with that perspective. We do know that Eric had more victims than Dylan but often times the media spins it as though both E & D shot Rachel. The Zero Hour Columbine doc incorrectly portrays Dylan as having killed Dave Sanders. Ultimately, I think the two boys are often mixed up or merged together while ‘publicized’ in relation to victims. And thank you! ❤
Hey there :) do you know if the boys liked to read, if so what was their favorite books to read? :))
Hi 🙂 This was answered a few times before. Please E-C Search “read books” or any of those combos of words to find posts that address this Q.
Hello lovely! This is me submitting a formal enquiry ;) In Sue’s book, she mentions her dismay at the photo of Dylan the media used in the immediate aftermath of Columbine, because it was one she particularly disliked and didn’t think looked like him. I’m thinking this is probably his junior yearbook photo, where he’s wearing his Reservoir Dogs t-shirt. Do you know if that’s correct? (And yeah… it’s not the best pic…)
Hi darlin’ I’m honored to have a formal inquiry from a fellow Ponderer such as yourself. 😉 Fortunately, this was answered a couple of times before. 🙂 Your train of el thoughtzos as to which picture it was, mirrors my own deductions, except I ended up rejecting his (yes, not the most attractive) Res Dogs shirt student ID photo for Dylan’s junior year photo. See here as for my reasoning. ❤
if Dylan and eric were still alive, they would hate the world even more alv
Probably. They’d be even more antisocial and fucked up obsessing over their phones all day long too.
I think what the anon meant was you don’t really expect Eric and Dylan to be okay with body hair on women since thy lived in a time when it was basically mandatory to remove body hair or you’d be considered ‘ew’ + Eric mentioned he liked smooth legs
Honestly, I lived in that time and body hair wasn’t at all a big issue and certainly not as much of an obsession as it is now to be shaved and completely hairless. Ultimately though, it sounds as though you already have it worked out – and I get the feeling the anon asking the question was assuming I’d say they’d be against it, simply because we know the boys disliked many things. But ultimately a question like this is a guessing game that anyone can personally conclude on there own and so it’s pointless to ask me and then disagree with it. The answer I gave to the question is what I personally standby. As for Eric liking ‘smooth legs’, most teenage girls in the US shave their legs no matter what decade. So, that’s no make-or-break indicator either. I’d bet Tiffany Typher with her dark hair was probably not exactly a hairless type of girl. lol These two boys were looking for women in their lives and quite frankly, could not afford to be that picky about girls shaving habits.
hey. you once mentioned in a post that eric wanted to take a trip to germany as part of his language class. when did he talked about that and where? i’ve never heard or read about that before.
As part of his diversion file but his speeding ticket likely dashed those hopes. By March of ‘99, he had other plans firmly in his mind..
9/17/98: On time. Eric is doing well. He brought a grade report which shows solid grades. He turned in his MADD Impact Panel verification. Eric asked if he would be allowed to go on a trip to Germany in March. I told him that I would base my decision on his progress at that time. I told him that if he works hard I will try to ST him a little early so he can enjoy his trip without stress about Diversion. I reminded him that his effort and progress must remain excellent for this to happen. UA completed today. Next appt 10/15/98.
10/15/98: Eric on time. We did not have much opportunity to discuss contract today since Eric brought in a Speeding Ticket that he received today. I told him to speak to his parents tonight and then call me with consequences. We talked about the kinds of things I have at my disposal to use. I will wait until parents address issue to consequence. Next appt 11/2/98.
10/19/98: Message from Eric. Parents were upset. They have not consequenced yet and are thinking about it. I will address this next time whether they have acted or not.
11/3/98: On time. Eric reports that he was grounded for three weeks due to ticket. He will be in contact with the court about the fines tomorrow. He brought progress report which shows solid work. Things going well at home. He claims that the anger class was completed and that he will turn in paper soon. Next appt 12/1/98.
You’ve answered so many on Dyl’s weight loss, but I can’t find this one in particular (I did ask it before the purge, so that might be why it’s familiar) Do you think he noticed his weight loss? And if so, do you think he enjoyed it? I know that with some ED (not that he suffered from an ED) the person takes some pride in feeling like they don’t need as much to live. Sorta “Godlike”. Do you think at any point D became conscious of his weight loss and viewed it positively?
Sadly, I honestly don’t think he noticed how emaciated he had become…. 😦
Hi, E-C! I was wondering if it is known how much the renovation after the shooting costed. I seem to recall that the school had a costly renovation years prior to 4/20 so I’m wondering how much more money went to Columbine afterwards. Thanks for all that you do 🙂💜
Hiya and thank you 🙂 Per acolumbinesite.com: There was never a final dollar amount put on the finished repairs but Superintendent Jane Hammond said back in May 1999 it could cost roughly $50 million.
A couple of other articles claim these figures:
Afterward, the school – which had just undergone a $15.6 million renovation four years earlier – was subjected to a new $1.2 million renovation in which the bullet-ridden carpeting and ceiling tiles were replaced, along with furniture and paint in the cafeteria, the newspaper reported. The library, where 10 people were murdered, was later torn down and replaced with a glass atrium, the Post-Gazette reported. as well as this [source] and [source]
In 2000, Healing of People Everywhere, or HOPE, a private, Denver-based organization formed by the families of the students and teachers who were killed or injured at Columbine, raised nearly $3.5 million and ripped up the old library floor, which was above the cafeteria. HOPE then built a vast atrium in that spot, with a mural on the ceiling depicting a swirl of trees underneath a beautiful blue sky. Hence the new library’s name the HOPE Memorial library. [Source]
Do you think Dylan was actually that tall in person because this boy in my class on 6”4 and he isn’t as tall as you would think or how people make it out to be?
Dylan measured 74 ½ inches on his autopsy report which is about 6′2. However, he was probably closer to 6′3 while alive and standing at full height. Dylan believed himself to be 6′4 and his mother seems to go with that in her book too. Accurately, he was more between 6′2 – 6′3.
When Dylan gave his mother that journal for Christmas with The Scream on the cover, did he somehow found it morbidly funny? i wonder if seeing his mother receive that gift amused him…”Hey mom, you can scream into this in a few months” -_-
I think Dylan just wanted to get a classy journal with some classic artwork since he knew his mom was an art buff. It would be beyond sad if he purchased The Scream by Munch journal for such ironically callous and spiteful reasons for his own mother given what he was about to do but we can’t know that for certain that it wasn’t either. The image of The Scream is perfect for someone simply venting in a journal. My personal feeling is that he wasn’t that vindicative with his mom and didn’t intend for it to be an inside, intentional, mocking joke. Why? Dylan still hadn’t emotionally/mentally committed to NBK in December of ‘98. Based his writings, he resigned to NBK with Eric by Jan ‘99. E-C Search “gawd”.
Do you think they minded body hair on a girl?
And why are they supposed to mind it ?? I guess I don’t really understand the point of this question. It’s kind of shallow, trivial type stuff. Let’s face it, the two would be happy to have girls in their life period – which they didn’t. Asking me superficial nit-picky type stuff like this where I’d have to guess for you is kind of ridiculous, tbh. However, I’d be happy to address questions with a bit more substance. 🙂
Love your blog :) thanks e-c . Have you seen some posts from people who attend columbine high school today? I have seen a few over the years who have no clue what went on. I don’t understand how they don’t. Correct me if I’m wrong but dont CHS students have 4/20 off and isn’t there memorials nearby which state what happened on that day? I just don’t understand how people say it’s a sore subject in that area yet some people have no clue it ever happened. A quick Google search of their school etc
Thank you. 🙂 I have. There have been plenty of CHS students that have posted about their school – some of which are/were Columbiners in the TCC and some not (just talking about their school on personal blogs) – as well as students in youtube vids talking about the fact that bullying still goes on there today. Columbine is still a very sore subject that is rarely broached if ever in Littleton. It’s a hush-hush topic. People speaking of it only if they have to relive it in conversation – say if it’s the anniversary or someone from the outside asks them about it. The collective community prefers to brush it under the carpet as a way to ‘move on’. This is why the many future generations that have attended the school view it as simply just another high school. Most don’t really have the awareness of the tragedy that took place there. Since they hadn’t been born yet or were babies they perceive it remotely just as another historical event like 9/11 – something that took place when they weren’t really cognizant enough to feel the impact of it. Many are oblivious as to why CHS is infamous and they don’t know the whole history or really don’t care to learn.. and yes, even with the Memorial nearby and 4/20 being a traditional non-school day of observance ever since the tragedy.
But what did you say about or did you just say your not answering it
Private message me. I’m not going to carry on this conversation in public posts.
What’s in the space of the original library now?
The original library no longer exists. It was demolished and renovated as an open atrium above the cafeteria with skylights and slabs of hanging artwork of Colorado trees. Watch the videos supplied in the post. 🙂
The students returned to a “renovated” Columbine in August 1999, but the library had not yet been demolished. So was it just blocked off during this time? What was used as a library before the new one was built, and what was the state of the old one?
Correct. When the students returned in August to a renovated school, the original library, still a crime scene, remained intact but sealed off and covered up by a long row of temporary blue lockers that blended in with all the other school lockers. A temporary library was established in trailers outside the school, and the new Hope Memorial library broke ground to be built in 2000 outside and adjacent to the south-west entrance where the massacre began. See the evolution of the school and library renovations in videos here, here, here, here, here and here.
“We finished last year at another school, but I’ve been inside Columbine several times since April, when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed a teacher, 12 kids and themselves. The library, where the worst bloodshed occurred, has been sealed off by a wall of lockers and replaced by a temporary library. By now, I’ve walked past the lockers so many times that I almost forget what’s behind them. It looks so normal, and I think that’s healthy. If the new kids see us treating the area as normal, then they won’t be spooked by it. “

What classes did Dylan excel in?
I’d say the classes he excelled in were likely video production class and working sound design in theater class. Dylan was naturally smart at math but he didn’t apply himself in class and got poor grades.
I didn’t know Zack was a Taurus! Maybe that’s why him and Dylan were such good friends, that earth sign bond 🌎
Yep. Born May 1st. and definitely. 😉
Hey EC! ☀ In celebration of Dyl’s birthday, I’ve started reading We Are But We Are Not Psycho by Tim Krabbe. I haven’t been able to find an English version, do you know if one exists? So far, I’ve spent my night using google translate and my own knowledge of language translating it from an online ebook I bought (it’s in dutch)
Sorry for the late reply back but I think what you’re doing is awesome! That’s a huge undertaking, btw. Kudos to you! Let us know how it goes. I would love to finally be able to read it! 🙂
@siciliansilverfox I’ve been working on a translation actually 🙂 it’s been sort of halted due health issues taking a toll on me in a lot of ways but am still working on it.
@sannehilton I am translating it slowly
—
It might go faster if each of you took a few chapters and collaborated on the Dutch to English translation. Just a thought. 😉
@siciliansilverfox sorry to hear about the health issues. I hope you’re feeling better as of late. 🙂
Did you have a nice Halloween? I hope you did! <3
It was spooktacular! 🎃👻 🌔🔮Thankss. 💖
