Yes, the Ever-lasting contrast. Since existence has known, the 'fight' between good & evil has continued. Obviously, this fight can never end. Good things turn bad, bad things become good. My fav. contrasting symbol, because it is so true & means so much – the battle between good & bad never ends… Here we ponder on the tragedy of Dylan Klebold.
Hi 🙂 Yes, Dylan was referring to Zack and Devon. The two met and became a couple during the summer of ‘97. Dylan wrote these passages that fall of ‘97. So, it wouldn’t really be a case of Devon avoiding Dylan ‘at first’ because this was already a few months in to Zack and Devon’s relationship, long after Dylan had resentfully gotten used to the fact that Devon was in Zack’s life. I tend to think if anyone was standoffish with Devon at first it would’ve been Dylan and not the other way around. In the early days of him getting to know Devon, I don’t think he was blatantly rude but he was probably very quiet and reticent observing her sort of move in with Zack But Devon had always been friendly and inclusive with him and so Dylan and Devon did become friends. But here, a few months on in September ‘97, Dylan is basically saying that Devon and Zack seem so air-tight now as a couple that to him, from his depressed perspective, as if he’s dropped off the face of the earth and he’s now practically being ignored by them At this point, they are so into each other, constantly holding hands, being lovey-dovey, spending every minute after school together and doing a lot of couple-y things – that Dylan feels like a stranger to them now and even their trio friendship is somehow dissolving. It’s like he had forged a friendship with Devon, begrudgingly accepted her as now being a part of Zack’s life and also, his close friendship with Zack had lessened since he got a girlfriend. By the start of Junior year, his two friends were on another planet and may as well been on another universe together and forgotten that Dylan had been their friend, that he’d been there for them and he’d helped them through things. And now..he just felt invisible to them because they were so besotted with each other. He’d been their friend, he’d been of help to them during their times of need – and now, why can’t they return the favor? He had been Devon’s ‘confidant’ and he’d been there for Zack during his depression. And yet, there he was all alone: they found a happy place ‘a plateau’ to exist on, and left him in the dust, in the ‘abyss of suffering’..
oh also , if you know the name of the beanie baby that’d be great ! i’m pretty sure it’s mel but i’d lov to get a definitive answer (~: [ it me again , the bee knee babbie anon ]
Dylan did have a Koala bear stuffed animal when he was little kid and he probably did take it with him everywhere he went as it was his favorite of all his stuffed animals. Though, it’d be a mistake to think he carried the thing with him as he grew as an older boy such as late elementary school on into middle school in the nineties. Yes, the Beanie Baby Koala bear is called “Mel” but to clarify, that is the company’s name for their Koala bear and not Dyl’s name for it. Also, he would not have had a Beanie Baby Koala because Beanie Babies didn’t exist until 1993 and by that time period, he would’ve been too old for stuffed animals as a tween boy. Dylan had a regular stuffed animal Koala bear which he would’ve gotten as a child in the Eighties- probably similarly to these first two 80s style bears. It seems very likely that Dylan’s Koala is visible in this photo. Also check the here for all other posts about his Koala. 🙂
infps come off as flower children but Dylan is such a good study case of when INFPs are in an environment that tells them everything they do is wrong, even their existence is wrong.
Hmm, what have you read and where? Bryon was basically a pothead in his late teens and twenties. He had a weed habit but wasn’t addicted to hard drugs and is not undergoing such a problem now in his late 30s. He been pretty successful all things considered; he worked his way up at the dealership he began working for prior to Columbine.. He has a beautiful, fairly large, suburban home, a wife, two precocious kids, a dog and a baby hedgehog as the new addition to their fam . 🙂
The intro to the Lost Boys documentary is a collage of clips including the Frankenstein Roast in which Dylan, Brooks and Zack are going over memories of the cast and crew and poking fun of them. Brooks repeats “Andrew, Andrew, Andrew..” He is likely referencing a fellow theater classmate, Andrew Robinson, who often wrote and/or directed their school plays. He probably directed Frankenstein too (I’d have to double check). Andrew was Rachel’s acting mentor and directed her in the very last play she stared in ‘The Smoke in the Room.’
This is the CHS cafeteria door side entrance. Just inside this doorway is where Dylan (and also Chris Morris) practiced their Hitmen for Hire intimidation scene rants. Please make sure ‘Closed Captioning’ is turned on in this youtube video so that you can see my captions. 🙂
Please note: I made this video unprivate for now but may have to make it private again in the future in case it gets flagged by youtube.
Also, while we’re on the topic of this area where HM4H scenes were filmed….
The infamous side entrance door is a scene of activity where:
At 11:19 – 11:23 am: Students Daniel Rohrbough, Sean Graves, and Lance Kirklin, having just come outside through a side door of the school cafeteria on their way to the “Smoker’s Pit” at Clement Park, are hit by gunfire. All three fall to the ground.
Just beyond the door way to the left, Lance Kirklin is laying on he pavement all disoriented, He calls out for ‘help’ and Dylan says something like “sure, I’ll help” and shoots him point blank in the jaw area of his face. People inside the cafeteria are watching this in horror. Some of them had still been wondering if this was some kind of staged elaborate Senior prank with fake guns until they see up close that this was not play acting at all in observing what Dylan does to Lance.
After some point, Dylan briefly enters the side entrance to the cafeteria and stands just inside the doorway, perhaps to discover why the propane bombs have not exploded (that is just a speculation though on Jeffco’s part. We don’t really know for certain what he was doing inside). He is not inside the building for too terribly long. Students are fleeing up the cafeteria staircase. Dylan does not aim his gun and pick off any fleeing students in the cafeteria.
In between this time, Sean Graves has made it to the threshold of the side door. Sean shoos the janitor away that was trying to help him – worried it would draw attention. Sean smears blood on himself, tries to lay there as still as possible, not breathe – to basically play dead.
Dylan stumbles into Sean Graves stuck at the door threshold. I would imagine that Dylan is assuming Sean is a dead body by the looks of him. Dylan tries to step over to get outside but steps on him to get out the door.. Sean makes a noise to which Dylan says awkwardly “sorry dude”. Once back outside, Dylan re joins Eric at the top of the outside stairs.
Just inside this doorway is what I believe to be the Teacher’s Lounge. I’m not sure though. When I was there at the school last summer for a conference, a bunch of old school style furniture was moved out of the ‘lounge’ area into the hallway just inside the door. You can see that 80s looking couch in the video and upturned tables It was mid July so perhaps they were cleaning out that room before putting the furniture back inside – or getting rid of the old stuff and revamping that room. It looks like that was original furniture that existed there at the time of the shooting.
As I mention above, Inside that alcove to the right of the side door, is where Dylan and Chris Morris shot their Hitmen for Hire practice intimidation scenes.
As you walk past and on into cafeteria area, that is the trajectory route that Eric and Dylan took to plant the propane bombs hidden in their large duffle bags as shown in CVA’s video.
If there is one thing I really hate about Tumblr is that it’s trying to be like Facebook with it’s “Active” thing on private messages. I honestly don’t see the purpose for such a feature either. It’s downright intrusive! Anyway, that said: I tend to get a fair amount of PMs, and I generally save them up for a time in which I can respond back. So, I just wanted to make clear that if you see I’m showing as ‘Active in the hour’ or whatever it saying so y’all can spend your day monitoring me *sigh* – It simply means I’m on Tumblr and I may or may not have skimmed a few PMs. Please don’t take it that I’m ignoring you. It just means that I’m either focused on answering Asks and basically waiting for a time in the day when I can devote to private messages and respond to those. Sometimes, I do respond back quickly to a PM..That can happen to 🙂 it just depends on how my day is going and how busy I am. Please know that you’re all important and if I’ve somehow overlooked your PM or Ask, it was not intentional.
Ok, that is all. 🙂
Chris Morris’ girlfriend, Nicole Markham, submitted a couple’s dedication in the Columbine ‘99 yearbook about her man. She wrote some pretty loving things about him. If you look at Chris here, he looks pretty mellow and happy with his girl.
I’m just posting this here in relation to this previous post as to his possible involvement in NBK plans. You can ponder and weigh in whether he would’ve chosen NBK over his girl.
The two married and had a kid after Columbine..but divorced early on.
I think Chris knew a lot of things just from hanging out with E & D quite a lot especially when Chris was going through his angry phase before he met his girlfriend, Nicole Markham. Before he was in a relationship, Chris and Eric got on famously simpatico with their mutual aggressive ‘fuck the world!’ bad attitude. Once Chris was in a close intimate relationship, he kind of mellowed out, stopped wearing his trench coat, and hung out less with the two. But of course he had to have still been well aware about them talking about plans for going NBK on their school. He certainly knew about their arsenal bomb building. I would not doubt that he helped them build some of those or had something to do with testing and storing stuff for them. But Chris was a smart guy and managed to pitch things to Jeffco that disputed his involvement with E & D and their plans. He also volunteered to wear a wire while speaking to Phil Duran on the phone to get information for the police. Chris did his best to convince them he was not a suspect.. even if he knew stuff and never bothered to say or do anything to stop them. But also I think back then, many of their friends saw pieces to the puzzle and never took it seriously. Before anything like a Columbine had ever happened, people just blew it off as a joke. Chris and other friends just never thought those two were going to be dead serious about seeing this through..even when Chris may have been helping them create pipe bombs or storing another one of Eric’s test batch napalm – or whatever.. He just didn’t think they meant what they said. Plus, Chris’ girlfriend was in the cafeteria for A Lunch. Whenever, I seriously weigh and consider Chris being involved in NBK in a key way or even as another shooter, I always think about how he would’ve been too invested in his relationship by then. I don’t think he knew specifically that E and D planned to put propane bombs in the cafeteria. I don’t think Chris would be in on knowing the magnum opus of their NBK plan and be comfortable and alright in knowing that his girlfriend would likely get blown to bits as collateral damage in that bomb rigged cafeteria. If he was in on it, wouldn’t he tell his girlfriend to stay home that day? I spoke a bit more on Chris and potential involvement here.
Mm…well, this blog was just a quiet posting presence about Dylan from 2013 until fall of 2014 where I just explored stories and concepts about him. When I decided to open my asks at a friend’s nudging, it just kind of naturally progressed kind of organically into more of a interactive, engaging, informational blog. It was a bit of a challenge for me in finding “my voice’ at first, so to speak. I am generally self conscious and cringey about anything I say and do in a public way (high functioning AvPD). For example, I still hate my writing and rarely think anything is not half bad. It’s taking me a long time to feel reaonsably comfortable about expressing myself this way. But ultimately though, I feel as though this inform-engage direction was the ‘next step’ evolution that was supposed to eventually happen. And everything that unfolded coincided perfectly with the announcement of Sue’s book. I could have eventually lost interest and stopped blogging. I’m not sure why that has never happened. I’m just still here doing what feels right. I just tend to think there is a reason as to why E-C is still here at nearly 9,000 followers now.. Just got to go with the flow and go along for the ride on this journey. ☺️
Dylan wore something akin to camel tan suede brown Saddle shoes
or..
a high top boot similar to this..
UPDATE:
Just thought I’d reblog this post and insert this photo (along with a close-up) which Sue released with her book last year. It clicked with me some time ago that these were the actual shoes Dylan was wearing at Rampart Range – just three years later. Creature of habit that Dylan was, he still had and wore these same shoes that he was sporting newish in ‘97 at age 15. In the Rampart Range photos, they just look reeeeally well worn and the dark areas look faded out in addition to the nineties video quality being blurry.
