No, that’s not Dylan’s hat. lol That’s a regular Boston Red Sox cap that some other kid owned. Not only did Dylan sew his “B” on the backside of a Colorado Avalanche ball cap, his beloved, unique ball cap ended up on the floor all bloody next to his body.
Hoping
Since she’s speaking in Virginia, I hope Sue comes to Ohio b/c that’s where she and Tom are from. I wonder if one of the 4 colleges Dylan got into was Ohio Sate University b/c that’s where Sue met Tom. I actually know a few Yassenoffs (Sue’s family) but they’re very adamant that they do not speak of columbine (that I know of)
The colleges that Dylan got accepted at were two local to the Denver area and the other two were in Arizona.
Crazy

Well, we may as well make this anon response useful, hm?
“In the first days after Columbine, I turned again to writing as an outlet, in a journal Dylan had given me for Christmas. Tom and I always told the boys not to bother buying us expensive gifts, and so I had been touched, in 1997, to find a leather-bound writing journal in my stocking. I made such a fuss over how great it was that Dylan got me another diary for Christmas in 1998, this one with a reproduction of Edvard Munch’s The Scream on the cover. The image seemed ominously symbolic afterward, of course, but at the time I was simply touched by the thoughtful gift—both art- and writing-themed, and therefore perfect for me.” – Sue Klebold, A Mother’s Reckoning
Been away for a little while but here’s a little drawing based off an odd dream I had a couple nights ago. The boys were trapped in some kind of colorless limbo, still as statues, and the empty whites of their eyes glistened as they were forced to watch the aftermath of their actions unfold beneath them. And Dyl had his hair pulled back into a ponytail. Or something like that lol.

Columbine Shooter’s Mother To Speak At Mental Health Conference
Sue is on a mission now. Good stuff! 🙂
Columbine Shooter’s Mother To Speak At Mental Health Conference

Mom versus Son
Dylan lands a short stint at a grocery store (Albertsons) as a Courtesy Clerk in Jan/Feb ‘98 on the heels of his arrest for the van theft. He ended up quitting the job in pursuit of landing his perfect dream job of working a computer store. In March ‘98, when Dylan enters the Diversion program, he gave his reason for why he quit the horrid grocery store job.
Dyan’s PoV:
Employer: Albertsons
Job Title:
Courtesy Clerk (can we just picture this?)
Reason for Leaving: ”Didn’t want to join the union”
In actuality…

Sue’s PoV:
“His relationship with the outside world didn’t seem to be much better. Roughly a week after the theft, Dylan got a job at a grocery store. He disliked the job itself and hated wearing a flowered shirt as part of his uniform. His attitude was terrible, and his time there ended quickly.” – A Mother’s Reckoning.
”Didn’t want to join the union wear a gay looking flowered shirt to this stupid fucking job.”
This is Dyl’s p.c. way of saying he fucking hated doing customer service without having to look bad in the Diversion file. lol
‘Tell Me About Dylan’: A Free Flowing Conversation With Sue Klebold (Part 1 in a Series)
Like many, I watched Diane Sawyer, Dr. Oz and listened to Terry Gross’ Fresh Air interview and read a number of written interviews with Sue Klebold, mother of Dylan Klebold and author of, A Mother’s Reckoning — Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy. And I read her book cover to cover. Unlike many other interviewers …

What kind of drunk was Dylan and/or VoDkA?
A happy, laughing drunk according to Brooks and a weepy drunk according to Sarah Slater. Think it’s safe to say that Dylan wore his emotions on his sleeve while drunk. His range of feelings were bubbling over at the surface and he was less inhibited and socially anxious. His hyper awareness/self consciousness and mental analyzing and over thinking mental chatter perpetually going on inside his head calmed down and so a range of emotions took hold. He liked it because it was an escape from himself, he felt freer and in touch with sides of himself he normally suppressed or concealed in social settings. VoDkA was the jovial, bad ass partier
Denver post interview w/ sue
Longer version of the interview conducted by that sour looking, poker faced interviewer. Sue is nervous around the edges but always provides honest, thoughtful answers.
I think Dylan’s lack of sleep also contributed to his depression, anger, and slacking off in school.
I would agree with this statement very much so, yes.^^ His mood would’ve naturally improved by way of consistent, longer periods of rest throughout the school week. It wouldn’t have cured his problem but it certainly would’ve contributed to making him feel more refreshed and energetic so that he wasn’t stretched thin with that running on empty feeling during his activity filled day. Less prone to irritability and mood swings too.
you have no idea of how much i love your blog! 💖💖
I have an inkling now. ❤ Thankss. 🙂
You get a lot of questions and I just thought I’d drop by and say , you run a fantastic blog. You are such a joy to read.
I really do indeed. lol Thank you kindly. 🙂 ❤
How were Eric & Dylan considered “goth”? They weren’t goth. If anything they were pretty normal and casual.
This was a myth perpetuated about the two by the media in the early days. They heard about the outcast gang of boys garbed in black coats, the Trench coat Mafia, and in their ignorance and need for a juicy story, automatically assumed Eric and Dylan were part of the fringe goth culture.

Dylan’s Legos love ❤
Despite all of the tears shed (anywhere from foggy eyes to full-on ugly sobs) during my experience with A Mother’s Reckoning, while listening to the Audible version of Sue’s book, I couldn’t help but laugh whenever she added certain little tidbits about Byron when he was younger.
“Byron was the kid who whizzed out of the restaurant bathroom, straight into the waitress with the loaded tray. He was the kid who hooked a plate of potato salad so it crashed into his own face, pie-fight style, while demonstrating an armpit fart – and then did it again with a bowl of oatmeal the next morning during a breakfast reenactment.”
“Three years older, Byron was still having too much fun in the tub to wash his ears without prompting.”
“With the counselor’s blessing, Byron and his best friend rented a cheap apartment across town, and the two of them set off from our house in a pickup truck loaded down with spare furniture, kitchen utensils, and a few boxes of food. Ever the optimist, I even included cleaning supplies.”
“The first time we went to Byron’s new apartment for dinner, we allowed Dylan to drive us halfway. (Byron proudly presented us with a double batch of Hamburger Helper. Anticipating a shortage of vegetables on the menu, I’d brought a salad.)”
“Byron and Dylan staged epic dish-towel-flicking fights in the kitchen; though they looked like grown men, they were really still boys.”
Needless to say, he sounds like quite the character. Sue herself sounded like she was smiling when she read those things, too, which really warmed my heart.
I love the ‘epic dish-towel-flicking fight’. She does have a way with words and you can just picture it too. Lol. Let’s not forget the time Byron adopted a kitten and Sue describes how touched she was at what a loving and nervous new dad he proved to be. haha ❤️
I have the book “Comprehending Columbine” and I haven’t read it yet and “Columbine: A True Crime Story” by Jeff Kass. Are they worth it or not?
Of the two, the best by far is Columbine: A True Crime Story by Jeff Kass. The book is well researched and more importantly, accurate. It’s my second favorite to Brooks Brown’s No Easy Answers. Larkin’s book isn’t worth the read, imo
What does he mean by “my humanity”?
Humanity is literally described by the dictionary as:
The quality or state of being human.
For Dylan it’s essentially the same meaning but he believes himself, his soul, to be much more than this incarnation born as a human can provide. He feels that though he was born in human form, created to be human yet there is no possibility for him to truly experience fully as a human and to feel fulfilled and happy as many humans seem to be, from his perspective. Since, Dylan resigns himself to never being truly human, he instead, tries to dissociate from doing things that are indicative of humans. He reaches a conclusion that it is a weakness to be human and succumb to human ways. His ‘humanity", he believes trips him up and keeps him in a lower state of being in which there can only be nothing but a sense of feeling stuck and within a state of infinite suffering. An example of his ‘humanity’ rearing it’s ugly head would be when he finds himself wavering, unable to call the girl he’s in love with because the fear and anxiety paralyzed him so or when he gives in to base lustful desires by compulsively indulging in porn and masturbating. He feels he is so much more than these human states of being, in his true spiritual potentiality, but he’s stuck and his humanity is the curse of himself that is like an anchor pulling him down.
Have you read the book? (im on page 172 and I got it yesterday)
Yep. I’m nearly done with the audio book version for a second pass. 😊
Was the incident Sue talked about where Dylan walks by jocks in a video the Eric inside columbine video? Wouldn’t that be incorrect info
Yes, you’re correct that it’s incorrect info. Sue was misinformed by author Ralph Larkin, who has many inaccuracies in his book ‘Comprehending Columbine’. This was answered before here.
Honestly, I would love to walk Sue through this video and explain to her why it’s not her son getting elbowed by jocks. I think Sue needs to study these videos for herself rather than blindly accepting the misleading opinion of an author. I also think that Sue ought to study Eric for herself because in studying her son’s fatal friendship, she can glean more insight about Dylan too. Anyway, I digress.. 😉
