Yes, the Ever-lasting contrast. Since existence has known, the 'fight' between good & evil has continued. Obviously, this fight can never end. Good things turn bad, bad things become good. My fav. contrasting symbol, because it is so true & means so much – the battle between good & bad never ends… Here we ponder on the tragedy of Dylan Klebold.
Yep, It’s a good bet that Dylan actually scrapped together probably around $40-$50 per paycheck so that he could purchase a somewhat designer brand of shades. They weren’t a trendy style so not ‘fashion’ in an acceptable mainstream sense like say, Ray-Bans. They were however, something he tried on, probably at some edgy punk-goth shop in downtown Denver on some weekend with Eric and he liked the look on himself enough to make a concerted effort saving up for them so he could incorporate his shades into his own brand of anti-fashion along with the trench – and probably with a good dash of inspiration from Mickey Knox’s round, tinted sunglasses in Natural Born Killers. Course, Dyl’s shades are oval not round like Woody Harrelsons. So, to answer your question, Dylan didn’t see himself assimilating with the acceptable and expensive fashion trends so his own fashion aesthetics didn’t count as trivial and snobby. 😉 I’d say it’s more likely that he worked hard and earned the shades on a part-time job. It’s no wonder he bemoans in his journal “I have no money”.
I got challenged er, tagged by @h4le-bopp to post 6 photos of 2015.
@everlasting-contrast has been gone for so long and I miss her come back!! I need my daily dose of you’re blog 💕
I’m baaack,.. well, sort of..from my Halcyon Hiatus. Missed you too, love.^^ Your comment and sentiment did not go unnoticed. ❤ Peace & Bliss-mas tidings.
Isn’t that kind of like looking at the glass half empty and missing the rest of it?
You’ll notice too that Everlasting Contrast also had an upright cross, which could be considered the Christian cross in addition to the inverted cross at the other end of it. But if we used your logic in only looking at one aspect of it, could we then say that the E-C was against the devil/Satanism simply because one part of it had the Christian cross? No. To full understand the E-C, you’d have to see it in it’s entirety – both cross ends of the double cross bound by the larger slash across the opposing two – which forms as the joining third cross in the middle. The third cross is probably the most important, signifying the balance and/or struggle of the duality and polarity that is within each of us. The potential to exist as having both within us and accepting both equally as valid.

The E-C triple cross is a constant, eternal force within the universe.
A couple days ago I was massively procrastinating and decided to recreate
Dylan’s AOL shirt instead of starting my research paper (for shame). Mostly because I’m a disturbed individual and I also needed a physical reference for my drawings
since I can’t draw fabric for shit. But largely the former. Plus Zazzle was
having a ridiculous sale on custom tees since it was Cyber Monday or something.
Anyway there were some things about his shirt that interested me. Mostly
this symbol, ∅, which generally refers to an empty set (in mathematics)
or null form (in linguistics). But of course it was widely used as an alternative for both the numeral 0 and letter O in 133T (leetspeak) In the journal entry when he’s mapping out his shirt,
he has the back font written as “AoLeeT d∅∅d.” But in the video of him in his
theater class, you can clearly see that the ∅ symbol on his shirt is flipped, the lines
striking through the O are reversed. See the below image. I never even noticed
it, not even when I was drawing him! I’m wondering if that was
intentional or if it was a mistake from the Customized Teez shop he frequented??
I dunno.
Another thing is that I’m pretty sure the O in HaXORz was a ∅. You can see it clearly in his first mockup of the shirt but it’s really hard to make it out in the final one. He might have changed it so I have no idea really. I just left it as a regular ol’ O.
And I ~think I found the same font he used. I was born in the mid-90s but I know that most fonts
during the 90s were pretty simple and generally speaking they’re still the exact
same ones we use today. I was pretty sure it was Arial since it’s such a
standard font and is found in literally every single software program. But I tried everything from Helvetica to
Verdana just to be sure. I’m about 90% certain the font on the back is Arial Black (which was released
for the web and Internet Explorer in 1996). It’s pretty common and is much
bolder than regular Arial and Arial Bold. You can tell by the shape of the A and the e’s in
AoLeeT I think.
Anyway, I really should get back to studying for finals hahaha
This is freakin’ hilarious as my version of his shirt has been parked in the final stages of design mode in Zazzle since I couldn’t get his ∅ ∅ to flip reversed. lol Zazzle is ridiculously limited in font options. I was banking on Futura Bold and Arial Bold but they only offered Folio Bold which was close but definitely no cigar. I think you slammed dunked the back of the shirt font as being Arial Black – seems a solid match! The font on the front..hmm..appears to somehow differ from the font of the back. And no, I don’t think it’s a mistake on Customized Teez part. I do believe Dyl most definitelychose to have the leetspeak “ ∅ “ flipped intentionally on the back of his shirt with a kooky sort of “DoooooD” in those backassward zeros. It was probably a last minute idea too. That’d be his tongue-in-cheek mocking humor poking further fun of AoL amature “hackers” thinking themselves kewl but in actuality, a running joke. This was procrastination time well worth spent, I’d say! On point go of it! 🙂
Not the best program to use but it was free and well, I was curious to see what their fusion would look like. Kind of bizarre, huh? lol Both have similar semi-circle, half-moon shaped eyes (a straight line along the bottom portion of their eyes), deep groove “sneer’ lines around their nose and mouth area and the Kleboldian strong chins. I think Sue’s chin is stronger than Tom’s, actually. Dyl must’ve gotten the curls from his dad because Sue’s hair is bone straight. Both her son’s have blue eyes which also must have been clearly inherited from dad since Sue has strikingly dark brown eyes.
Heh heh heh. I sure had fun this weekend. Let’s see, what really happened. Before going to Rock-n-Bowl we stopped by King Soopers and me and —- picked up some big ass stogies. We then went to Rock-n-Bowl and I had a few cigarettes and one of my brand new cigars. We then went back to —-’s house where her mom had previously bought us all a fuck load of liquor. Personally I had asked for Tequila and Irish cream, Vodka got his Vodka, and there was beer, whiskey, schnapps, puckers, scotch, and of course, orange juice! So we had some fun there playing cards and making drinks. We eventually made it to bed at about 5 AM. Got up at 10, went to Safeway got some doughnuts and then I took Vodka home. The bottle of Tequila is almost full and is in my car right by my spare tire and right by the bottle of Irish Cream. Heh heh. I’ll have to find a spot for those. – Eric Harris 11/8/98
This is kind of a large photodump haha but I love this entry in Eric’s journal and I wanted to draw some bits of it. Sounds like the two of them had a good time.
Ahh, the diet staples of R & V – donuts and booze. No doubt VoDkA was ready for bed at 10 a.m. once REB dumped him off the curb side of South Cougar Rd. Love your stuff, as always. 💗
Dylan lost in thought after finding an old stuffed animal. Wonder what he’s thinking about.
Every year on Dylan’s birthday, Tom Klebold goes up to the place where the two used to hike and takes a Dr. Pepper, because Dylan loved Dr. Pepper, and the stuffed Koala that was Dylan’s childhood favorite.
(Also just want to add: the above quote is the only documented mentioning of Dylan’s koala, anything else about him sobbing into it or hugging it after a traumatic day at school is verified as false, great post about it here)
Nah, I don’t think Dylan took notice of Eric that way let alone be secretly jealous of his differing physical features. lol I feel as though it’s more like him looking like anyone else but himself would’ve done for him. Everyone else looked more ‘normal’ except him. It was hopeless so why even be jealous over such things? And Eric was most certainly not open about his “feelings and stuff’”. He was not a good communicator and most especially not with women. This doesn’t mean he didn’t try but he felt uncomfortable in his skin with it which is why he did better expressing on AOL chat with girls. Everything he couldn’t say IRL he could manage with some modicum of confidence online. Neither boys were good acknowledging, identifying and processing feelings let alone expressing and communicating them to others. Everything bottled up, to their frustration.
I think he looks good with short hair too. He comes off as a different person with short hair. Kinda clean-cut prep. But I prefer these [x] and [x] lengths best. The near-shoulders lenght works with his prominent features – his chin, his nose and ears. I think that is why he fought to grow his hair out even though his parents wanted him to get a haircut. He felt more comfortable with longer hair because I think he kinda felt like it balanced everything out better plus it was individualistic and against the grain of the standard look at school.
Hmm, I have no clue, anon. That’s kind of up to your personal preference and taste? What interests you specifically that you’d want to learn more about? You may just want to check out the E-C archive. And maybe someone here can help point out any posts that are worth the read? I’m not a huge fan of my own stuff, tbh. lol
