Dylan As A Friend

“I was taking a walk not long before he died, and I’d asked him, ‘Come and pick me up if it rains.’ And he did. He was there for you, and he was the best listener I ever met.” – Far From the Tree

“We were T-boned while crossing an intersection, and Dylan stopped his car and ran up to my window and was just like, ‘Are you OK? Are you OK?’ and he was freaking out, and I just told him to go get my parents and tell them to come up here and get me.” – Columbine: A True Crime Story

“When [Devon’s] feelings were hurt or when she had conflicts with others, it was Dylan she turned to for support. ‘I would call Dylan on the phone or talk to him on the computer. It was the best therapy I could hope for.’” – A Mother’s Reckoning

“Mid-February, Dylan came downstairs dressed to go to work,
though he wasn’t scheduled. Eric’s dog Sparky was seriously ill, so
Dylan had picked up Eric’s shift at Blackjack. […] As he left the
house, I gave Dylan a hug and told him how proud I was that he was such a
responsible employee and a good friend.” –
A Mother’s Reckoning

A true blue friend. 💙

On the BTs, Eric addressed Susan yet Dylan said nothing to anyone but his mom. Why didn’t he take the opportunity to address the girl(s) he loved since he was dying anyway?

Because Dylan merely had crushes on various and sundry girls and none of them panned out to be his ‘true love’ – in short,  he did not love them to such a degree to feel like addressing them.   Dylan had resigned to finding the love he sought on the other side of death.

Also, because the two were in a hurry.

And it’d kind of be rather ridiculous for Dylan to pull out a scrolling list of girls he secretly pinned for and to start addressing each and every one of them while Eric stood there grumbling and waiting for the dude to finish already. lol  I mean, can you seriously just imagine how awkward that would’ve been given the schedule they had to keep?

So I don’t even question why at all, tbh.  It’s far more bizarre that Dylan skips over his dad and only addresses his mom in the tiny window of ‘goodbye’ time he had alloted. Though I can understand why he chose to omit his dad (and brother).

Why is it “VoDkA” not “voDKa”? In A Mother’s Reckoning, Mrs. Klebold points out they are uppercase for his initials? But I always see it written the other way?

A rumor got started by someone – I seem to recall it was one of the Columbine authors.  They assumed he capitalized both the ‘D’ and ‘K’ in the nick because the letters were together.  But it’s simply not the case.  Dylan alternated large and small letters uniformly because that is the Nineties style of mock typing that was used on BBS (Bulletin Board Services) and by HaXoRs (hackers) and whatnot back in the day.

Even though Sue is Dylan’s mother and you’d likely assume she know best – the fact of the matter is that she never knew that Dylan went by this nickname among his friends at all, period.  So, unfortunately, Sue regurgitated the misinformation propagated by the author.  Often Sue concedes to the information that the so-called experts and/or authors have passed along to her. She confidently states the information as if it’s fact without really having done the research on her own (or asking his own friends to verify). Unfortunately, she does this a handful of times in her book.

I would just like to say, I absolutely adore your account. It brings me such happiness whenever I look at it. You’re very factual and positive at getting the point across, but always have a goofy/loving/overall great side too. Just wanted to let you know. Also, thank you for the follow! Means so much to me. 😁🖤

I’m so glad that E-C brings you “happiness” whenever you come visit it. I’m glad you get the gist of me and that I tend to serve up the factually informative content with a bit of a mirthful twist. 😉A certain someone had told me that you’ve been enjoying my blog so I was happy to take a look at yours and follow you back.  Thank you so much for your adorable adoration for all things E-C!  😘❤️
