Yes, the Ever-lasting contrast. Since existence has known, the 'fight' between good & evil has continued. Obviously, this fight can never end. Good things turn bad, bad things become good. My fav. contrasting symbol, because it is so true & means so much – the battle between good & bad never ends… Here we ponder on the tragedy of Dylan Klebold.
“The Perfect Drug” by Nine Inch Nails, another song whose lyrics were written in Dylan Klebold’s day planner (JC-001-026457). The song is from the soundtrack of one of Dylan’s favorite movies, Lost Highway(as are two Rammstein songs).
I got my head, but my head is unraveling
Can’t keep control, can’t keep track of where it’s traveling
I got my heart but my heart’s no good
And you’re the only one that’s understood
I come along but I don’t know where you’re taking me
I shouldn’t go but you’re wrenching, dragging, shaking me
Turn off the sun, pull the stars from the sky
The more I give to you, the more I die
And I want you
And I want you
And I want you
And I want you
You are the perfect drug
The perfect drug
The perfect drug
You are the perfect drug
The perfect drug
The perfect drug
You make me hard when i’m all soft inside
I see the truth when i’m all stupid-eyed
The arrow goes straight through my heart
Without you everything just falls apart
My blood wants to say hello to you
My fears want to get inside of you
My soul is so afraid to realize
How very little there is left of me
And I want you
And I want you
And I want you
And I want you
[5x]
You are the perfect drug
The perfect drug
The perfect drug
You are the perfect drug
The perfect drug
The perfect drug
Take me with you
Without you
Without you everything just falls apart
Without you it’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Without you
Without you everything just falls apart
Without you it’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
It’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
It’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Without you
Without you everything just falls apart
Without you it’s not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Some day I’ll figure out the tune he was whistling.. 😉
I read they were listening “Americana” from Offspring. Maybe it was that song?
Nope, It’s definitely not that.. Two slow of a beat. I get the feeling Dyl whistled tunes and snapped his fingers quite regularly. Dude loved his funky jams.
I have heard of Adam Kyler. He wasn’t mentally challenged, though, he was learning disabled (I would not use the two terms interchangeably.) Adam reported that Dylan used to pick on him quite frequently.
1.) I think we have to remember that just as Rachel Scott described kindness as a “chain reaction”, cruelty works the same way. It’s likely that Dylan took out rage from his own bullies on others, as we obviously saw with the massacre. I think we can vilify anyone as much as we want, but there’s always going to be a higher link in the chain as to where that anger is coming from. The root of the problem is never the individual.
2.) I wouldn’t say they were “clearly not nice people” because we’ve seen the best and the worst sides of both of them through our research. The “misunderstood” description is basically a way of saying that people are viewing them as one-sided and inherently evil for no apparent reason when clearly there is a story behind their problems. “Love the sinner, hate the sin.”
Thank you for saying I’m “levelheaded.” I actually really appreciate that. 🙂 Let me know if you want my input on anything else!
Well put. Bullying is a learned, often, perpetuated behavior. Those that are bullied on a regular basis acquire permanent self image scars over time. Victims tend to turn around and beginning bullying those that they feel are lower in ‘pecking order’ as a way to boost their own low self esteem. It should not be surpising that Dylan (and Eric) were tempted to exorcise bullying on others as a way to displace their own poor self image. While, it’s not the right thing to do, it is, however, a very human coping mechanism to a form of abuse and unfortunately, it is quite common place in school. Why should it be a surprise that Dylan bullied Adam? To me, this is the ‘shades of gray’ within Dylan as a flawed human, at his worst, displacing his self loathing and pain that was acquired by those that had bullied him. The boys were not perfect angelic victims, instead they coped and struggled in miserable ways, Ironically, they gave in to becoming the Ultimate Bullies, toping all others bullies at CHS, on 4/20.

“I have lost my emotions… like in hurt the song. NIN. People eventually find happiness. i never will. Does that make me a non-human? YES. the god of sadness…” -Dylan Klebold
People often times described Dylan as ‘goofy looking’ and I thiiiiink he inherited a bit of the “goofy’ characteristic from dear old dad. 😉 While his mom’s features are sharper and more refined, Tom has more clunky, rounder features than Sue. Tom’s nose is broad at the base which is why Dylan’s nose looks so wide from front on. Unlike Tom’s nose where you can see a bit of nostril definition, Dylan’s nose slopes downward in favor of his mom. Both his mom and dad have very strong crease lines running from the base of the nose to the mouth. Dylan, even as just a teen, already inherited both of these deep crease lines like both his parents; it’s easy to see why some girls at CHS described Dylan as if ‘he was always sneering.’ Both Tom and Dylan have the exact same fine/defined eyebrow line shape which extends almost upward, softly fading out – in contrast to the half moon eyelid shape which slopes downward. Tom has a broader chin than Sue but his jawline is sharp. It’s a no brainer to see how Dylan and Bryon inherited dominant chins and sharp jawlines from both parents! Dylan has a longer chin than his father because of his mom which is an interesting characteristic to inherit from female genetics. Lastly, Dylan and Tom share the same ear size/positioning. But alas, it would be great to see more current pics of Tom to make more comparisons!

And the mouth, definitely has his fathers mouth.
Absolutely! The mouth, the entire smile is a carbon copy.
Thank you. 🙂 And again, thanks to you for sussing out these old class photos of D & E’s parents and relatives. I don’t know your technique for finding ‘em but whatever it is, it’s highly effective. 😉 I’d love to see a close-up of Sue from High School and, of course, one or two current photos of Tom. That would satisfy my genetics/characteristic questions. Yep – lots of exchanging of opinions, which to me, is ultimately a good thing since it gives Tumblr a bit more depth than just the usual photo likes/reblogs. 😉

Mother and son comparison
Dylan shares Sue’s down-turned, sloping nose (though mom has more of a hook to the bridge of her nose in older photos so I wonder if she perhaps got a slight nose job?), the long pointed, strong chin, the sparkling smile with slightly deep-set crinkly eyes,
‘“He’s a very bright kid, and it’s a very nice family,” said one neighbor who asked not to be named.
”He (didn’t) behave very well in class. He was very disrespectful to the teacher, and he would never listen to anybody.” Sometimes “lost his temper”’ Laura Stewart, 18
Dylan is interrogated by his guidance counselor. This is the first scene where we really see Dylan, called “Loner,” as a character, and is one of the first scenes in the play.

VOICE (PREP): Okay, we’ll start with the big question: what do you want to do with…
Cool find! Definitely can see the resemblance in the eyes, nose and ears. Though, I think Dylan favors his mom’s looks more particularly her strong chin.
Personally I think he looks more like his dad in these particular photos, especially the second one. You’re right about his mum’s chin though, and he also has her hair.
The more I look at it, I can see the line of the eye shape and eyebrows too. I do see a lot of Bryon’s features as well. Time for a side-by-side photo of mother-dylan-father for comparison. Thanks for posting this! Would love to see a more current, closeup photo of Tom other than that one floating around where he has the beard.

Randy and Judy Brown watch the Rampart Range video at the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office in 2003
That must be a very odd, horrific feeling to be watching that video and comprehending a different side of Dylan since he had been over to their house on many, many occasions from sweet little boy to shy, (seemingly) gentle teenager.
“I think Dylan on one occasion did say: "Wouldn’t it be kind of fun to sit on the soccer field and shoot at the school? Like shooting at the windows would be kind of fun”, and you know, everyone on the table kind of laugh a little cause we thought he was all joking.”Chris Morris
Dylan had on his coat and those glasses and as Sue looked around the restaurant she thought people were uncomfortable and afraid of him. Then she said,’Dylan, people are afraid of you with that on. You need to take it off.’ And he just smiled at her. I think when he got this coat, it was the first time he ever felt power in his life.
Judy Brown, mother of Brooks Brown, recalling an incident that happened 4 months before the massacre when Dylan was dinning at a restaurant with his mother Sue. (via trenchcoatmafia-judgementday)
