In Dylans journal he expresses his feelings, and some anger that he missed his bestfriend, and wanted to kill his friends girlfriend, to get his bestfriend back to be a ‘bestfriend’ again. because he wasn’t a best friend to dylan anymore, he barely spoke to dylan. Do you know who he was? Because in Dylans journal the name is redacted. I thought it was zack or nate, or someone, but then why would their names be redacted by the police? If it’s dylans friend? (sorry for confusion)

His best friend was none other than Zack Heckler.  So you were partly right in your guesswork. 🙂   Any names that weren’t Dylan’s or Eric’s were redacted in order to protect those individuals that were their friends.  You have to think about how the climate was right after the massacre: many of their friends were being ostracized or getting death threats from classmates and others.  The police preserved their security by keeping their names private as case items were publicly released. 

Did the boys ever mention Metallica?

No, I don’t tend to recall as such – certainly not from Dylan. I do think Eric was more into metal and probably in Jr HS before he fell hard for German industrial. In my opinion, he probably wouldn’t have been averse to Metallica and some other hardcore, pounding, intense metal bands.  It’s just that metal sort of took the ‘back seat’ for him as far as favored tastes in high school.  I do seem to recall that he used some metal for his video production in class just not sure about Metallica. 

I love your blog! I wish I could let you know that all the time without it losing it’s credibility. The time and effort you put into answering all those questions is unbelievable and no matter what, we can always expect to recieve more education about Columbine when we come to this blog. What is your favorite footage of Dylan? I like the “morning ritual” because you can see all of his expressions well and hear his voice clearly but most of all he is not acting.

Same here too – because it is just Dylan, himself, The Dude, goofing off and being himself around a close friend he feels completely at ease with.  I feel that it very much encapsulates his spirit and sense of humor as well as his natural inclination for consuming some good tunes and always instinctively jamming to them jovially.

But I also like this ‘new’ footage of ‘simply Dylan’ being all self-consciously adorable (and for a smidge of a moment,  looking like a deer frozen by the headlights as he tilts his head gazing into the cam) yet, at the same time he musters a confident, professional-directness about him –  especially now that we have the audio to go with it. Hearing his voice, seeing this tiny interview in its entirety was just such a treat for us when the footage aired on Sue’s book release 20/20 interview back in Feb ‘16.  For quite a very long time, there was only a tiny smidge of a portion of this interview with no audio. So, I have fond memories of viewing this for the first time and being tickled and his full personality picture revealed. 🙂

Why did dylan decide to wipe his computer? Is it because he didn’t want anything left of him, after he was gone to linger around the earth and be public? He just wanted to be gone – like he never existed?

Well, no, not exactly.  After all, he left all his private writings behind in his notebooks or on loose pieces of paper, right? Dylan obviously didn’t want the police poking around at all the personal stuff he had on his computer – including his porn, his private convos with friends – some of those chats may have been very personal talk or perhaps compromising and might’ve implicated them in regards to kicking around thoughts of fucking over their school and certain persons in it), etc.  So, the most effective way of preventing the cops and FBI from glimpsing into his private doings was to simply delete everything which takes no more than 5-10 minutes. He either did so the evening before going to bed or while he was quickly getting ready the morning of 4/20.  See here and here.

What do you think Eric looked like/wore at prom? How do you think he attended prom without a date? I mean I suppose he would have been pretty upset. That night he was apparently upset too. But do you think he stayed the whole night around Dylan or danced or talked to girls or? I read that he started yelling and left or something. But i wonder why there were no pics of him and Dylan together or him around? I’m curious as to if he was wearing a tux and how sharp he would have looked like dyl did.

I’m not sure who or where you got your information from but Eric didn’t go the prom so he didn’t dress up or attend the prom dinner or dance. He attended the After Prom in his school gymnasium which was an informal party and classmates dressed casual for it. See here. 

Are there any AOL screenshots between Dylan and someone else? I see screenshots between eric and Jennifer and I was just wondering if there are any of Dylan’s conversations floating around. Thanks in advance!

No, unfortunately not.  Plus, Dylan didn’t really use AOL to socialize and chat on as Eric tended to do occasionally.  Dylan liked AOL for HaXoR practice.  The two probably used ICQ to chat (creating their own chat room) while lan playing video games.  None of their internet chats, if any found by Jeffco investigators, were publicly released.  Dylan wiped his computer (even still, there was still limited 90s recovering technology that could’ve extracted some data) so anything easily retrieved would’ve resided on Eric’s computer.

I had previously read that you had asked principal De Angelis about cameras in the library. I guess the question I was trying to ask was do you believe him? He would have every reason to keep something like that a secret.

I believe Mr. D wasn’t lying because of how quick and forthright he sounded in addressing my spur of the moment question that I asked him. He didn’t waver or appear to be giving false information to cover something up.  There was no body language indicating that he was covering anything up. He answered many questions from our group following him around key parts of the school recounting everything in a very sincere manner as he was recollecting it from memories – sometimes blurry and other times details vividly burned into his brain.  

I posted previously that there were only 6 cameras in CHS prior to 4/20 and 16 cameras afterward.

Incidentally, this particular video is great too as it shows the bank of temporary lockers that they installed in front of the blocked off library for the year until it was renovated into an atrium.

Dylan that’s just a circle :/ … Or are you referencing Zero?

Well, you know, it’s never ~just a [insert symbol]~ when it comes to Mr. Klebold. Oh no. “You should know that by now”  😉 

The circle, O ™ © is was a universal symbol with extensive meaning. It represents the notions of totality, wholeness, original perfection, the Self, the infinite, eternity, timelessness, all cyclic movement, God (‘God is a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere’ (Hermes Trismegistus)). As the sun, it is masculine power (The Sunshine Boy, a-hem..); as the soul and as encircling waters, it is the feminine maternal principle. “It implies an idea of movement and symbolizes the cycle of time, the perpetual motion of everything that moves, the planets’ journey around the sun (the circle of the zodiac), the great rhythm of the universe. The circle is also zero (you zeroed in on that perfectly @acinnamon-girl ) our system of numbering and symbolizes potential or the embryo. It has a magical value as a protective agent, … and indicates the end of the process of individuation, of striving towards a psychic wholeness and self-realization” (Julien, 71). Or..basically, achieving self-awareness of The Everything (and nothing) state of mind.

With the number ten, symbolizes heaven and perfection as well as eternity. In Jung, the antithesis of the square (lowest state of man who has not achieved inner perfection), standing for the ultimate state of Oneness, with octagon in between. Circle of Necessity: birth, growth, decline, death. Defense against chaos, formlessness. Related to Ying Yang – and oh yeah, basically the Everlasting Contrast dualistic Dylanosophy. 😉 

The never-ending cycle is represented by the sign of the serpent that eats it’s own tail known as the Ouroboros, symbolically representing an endless loop with no beginning and no end, basically eternity and infinite existence in cycle of creation and destruction. The figure symbolizes the paradox of existence because it contains both circular and linear logic: Linear, because a beginning and ending our shown; circular because the end offers a new beginning, and the figure itself is in the shape of an eternally recurring and unbreakable ring. Like the Phoenix or the Scarab, the serpent’s end leads only to the beginning.  Binary opposition as with the beginning and the end and the heads and the tails and the union of those opposites in an endless circle. The Ouroboros is akin to the FIgure 8 Infinity symbol and sometimes the serpent consuming itself is shown as the Infinity symbol instead of just one O.

Dylan’s O appears to be a similar symbolic representation of the endless journey on the infinite Lost Highway where ‘here’ to ‘there’ is on a continual loop or his endless plunge into the vortex-like abyss of The Downward Spiral then becomes an Upward Spiral ascent within the center of it’s threshold. 

The end is the beginning is the end.  Up is down and down is up.

There is also the Alchemic, mathematical equivalents in the Celtic symbol of the Annulus, or Tenth Knot, a ring-like marking also called an “O” or zero.

Incidentally, I remember the Ouroboros was the symbolic motif for the nineties television series Millennium – a huge favorite of mine.
