why werent dylan and eric official members of the TCM? how did the TCM accept new members? were they required to do anything challenging or humiliating (like in a fraternity/sorority)? it seemed like eric would have wanted to join them a lot more than dylan. its kind of sad that they werent wanted, not even in the outcasts club 😞

The TCM were just an informal group of geeks that hung out and played video and card games. They were the ‘no sports’ at the school and therefore the outcasts. Eventually they started wearing trench coats in ‘97-’98 and that when a jock dubbed them there name while wearing the coats in warm weather: ‘what do you guys think you are ‘the Trench Coat Mafia’ or something?’  And the name stuck. The TCM was not a formal organization such as a fraternity. lol   It was a super casual group of dorks and the majority of the school looked down on them. Eric and Dylan knew a couple of the members (Chris Morris, Joe Stairs (an acquaintance) and Brian Sargent) but they missed out on the ‘heyday’ of the original TCM members since it was primarily made up of dudes a year older than them.  They got into the aesthetic later on modeling the trench coat look, and were sort of the TCM 2.0 only by that time, they were the only dudes left in the school wearing trench coats.  See posts here and here.  After Columbine, the media twisted the TCM, turning it into a dark and sinister organized group. But it was actually not a big deal. Just a way for outcasts to rally against the ‘normies’ in a jock and prep ruled school.

That’s what is going to happen if we let Ajit Pai, the FCC chairman, go through with repealing Title II (AKA Net Neutrality).

Simply put, without Net Neutrality, Internet Service Providers like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T will be able to “bundle” websites much like cable ON TOP OF paying for internet connection. “Want access to Netflix AND Tumblr? Get the Entertainment Package! $40 a month. What about Amazon and Ebay? Add an extra $20 a month to get the Shopping Package.”

Not only will they be able to bundle websites and charge more, they will also be able to censor and block websites that they don’t agree with entirely.

THIS WILL BE THE END OF INTERNET AS WE KNOW IT.

For business owners, it will be even worse. Ex: Comcast will ask Amazon to pay high fees to be available in a low-cost package, fees that websites like Poshmark or Etsy will not be able to pay. Therefore, only Fortune 500’s will be available to web users at a low cost. Say goodbye to Etsy (unless you’re willing to shell out $70 a month for the “All-Inclusive” package).

thoughts on the supposed new leaked basement tapes audio??

1. Doesn’t sound like them. Maaaybe, marginally a bit like Dylan (his soft voice in Pulp Fiction) but definitely does not sound like Eric’s distinctive voice and accent. In fact, both ‘voices’ sound like the same voice. There is hardly a distinction, if any.

2. Sounds monotone dead-pan like it’s dialog being read verbatim from the transcript with absolutely no voice inflection whatsoever.This would be an on-the- fly ad lib goodbye to their parents. I would expect just a bit more intonation to their voices.. yet, it’s oddly very flat sounding..

3. I question such super poor quality recording. Why is it that poor? It’s so low audio spectrum and any male could read the transcripts in a quiet, soft voice with the audio hiss up high and people will hear it as E & D because they want it so badly. Perfect nebulous crap audio for people to matrix it into what they want it to be.

Do you ever just hear certain songs or see something in your daily commute and smile because it reminds you of Dylan? Like he’s saying “hi”…

All the damn time. haha.  I especially like when Spotify mysteriously, and anomalously, skips to a particular something that has nothing to do with the artist I’m listening to, yet is totally relevant to Dyl in music and lyrics.. which leaves me with a ‘well, hello you…’ smirky smile on my face. 😉

The fact that you know where Byron lives, What pet he has, What his children look like, what their names and ages is extremely creepy. Why do you need to know this? its almost like your trying to be apart of their family as Dylans “spiritual hippy dippy girlfriend” The Klebold family would be creeped the fuck out by you if they met you and found out about this blog. Being interested and knowing a lot about Dylan is one thing but knowing a lot about a person who is not notorious for anything anot

It’s not that I need to know it, it’s just that I know it (for reasons I’m not about to go into) and people have asked. The fact that you’ve (apparently) spent a fair amount of time on my blog reading it enough to know various detailed information about the Klebolds should by your own judgmental standards make you feel kinda creepy about your own self, now shouldn’t it? 

Look. No one here is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to stay and read my blog and yet..and yet. you’ve spent considerable time doing so.  If you don’t like what I do then leave. Simple as that.  Go visit blogs that have the standard general information that can be found anywhere if that’s what floats your boat, doesn’t threaten you or ‘creep you out’. 

Thank goodness you take those kinds of comments with good humor. Because here, on the other side I get bored easily with that sort of thing thrown at you. Let’s have 100 years together! haha <3

Oh, don’t get me wrong. I get bored just as easily as it’s the same ol’ predictable, juvenile crap I receive occasionally. They are coming at me with what they think is their finest brand of salty shade and I’m just well, gotta say..half yawning over here. lol

Sue spoke of Dylan’s reluctance in participating in Jewish customs but, do you think he would have been more inclined to acknowledge and even partially practice that family faith in his adult years?

I tend to think as teens get older and more mature they eventually shed their rebellious phase and as adults, they will often re-embrace the observances of some family traditions they grew up with. And without getting so knee-jerk allergic to it. Assuming that Dylan survived well into adulthood, I wouldn’t doubt if his older more mellowed out self would be comfortable participating in his mother’s customs for the simple fact that it makes her happy to pass on her Jewish heritage to her sons.  Less of that “she wants me to do it and I can’t stand the embarrassment of recite-singing the 4 questions in front of everyone’ to ‘she asked me to do it and I don’t mind if it pleases her once a year’. I don’t want to say that Dylan would suddenly become religious because I tend to doubt that – only that he might nominally observe one or both of his parents religious upbrings for the occasional holiday traditions had he made it to 36 and was married with a wife and kids. A lot of what you grow up with as a kid become engrained in you even if you rejected all of it as a teen / young adult.

I am deeply grateful to Nate for being a dear friend to Dylan, and for continuing to be Dylan’s friend and ours in the years since Dylan’s death. He made it possible for me to vicariously enjoy many of the happy times they shared. For Nate’s willingness to relive the past with me, and for his desire to do whatever he could to help with the book, I am truly thankful.
