Shades on; arms crossed: the reclusive solitary man

Melissa Couris said that he had been in at least one of her classes last year and she knew who he was.  She thought he had been in a Language Arts class with Miss Jankowski last year (’98). She said that he was always quiet, didn’t talk to anybody and sat in the corner with his arms crossed.  She said that he wore a trench coat and sometimes he wore his sunglasses in the classroom.

“..you seem a lot like me. Pensive, quiet, an observer, not wanting what is offered here (school, life, etc.)“ – DBK

Just another anon here to say I adore your blog. You have a great balance of being incredibly informative and also having a good sense of humor about things. You’re easy to talk to, even if it’s something silly weighing on my mind about Columbine, and I love that you’re so approachable. Whatever you choose to do with your blog, I (and I’m sure others) will be behind you 100% and will always appreciate the work and time you put into this site for everyone wanting to know more. :)

Your words mean a lot to me. Thank you for your unwavering support regardless of what direction I choose for myself and E-C. ❤️

As appreciated your blog is, sometimes you just have to move on, you know? I’m not encouraging you to leave or anything, because your blog is truly amazing, as are you, but if you have to leave for whatever reason that may be, please don’t feel pressured to stay. That’s all that I wanted to say! I hope this doesn’t sound like a, “yeah, you should leave,” type of message. I’m just bad at conveying my thoughts. I hope you’re well. :)

Thanks.  And no worries, I understand that your intent was well meant.

Meet Dylan Klebold’s (S)hit List

#405 Dylan Klebold (S)hit List – (Control Number) CN 2173:
Redacted revealed to be…. Brett O’Neill Grade 12 Senior

Interviewed [Redacted (Brett)] on 5/11/99.  Didn’t know why he was on Klebold’s List.  He has known both for about 5 years but had no association with either. He said that years ago Klebold was made fun of because he didn’t fit in and was very odd. [Redacted (Brett)] did not recognize any nicknames on the list.

Klebold was quiet. […a very long redacted sentence that we all wish we knew what it said…..] “He was sort of the brunt of jokes”.  They would never make fun openly but O’Neil said that it was a possibility that Klebold may have been aware of it.

NYTimes: Columbine Shocked the Nation. Now, Mass Shootings Are Less Surprising

990000:

Nov 10, 2017

When it happened, Columbine was the nation’s fifth-deadliest mass shooting since World War II, surpassed only by attacks at a Luby’s restaurant in Killeen, Tex., in 1991 (23 deaths); at a McDonald’s in San Ysidro, Calif., in 1984 (21); at the University of Texas at Austin in 1966 (15); and at a post office in Edmond, Okla., in 1986 (14).

Yet today, not one of those shootings is among the five deadliest. That category, which previously covered more than 30 years, is now occupied entirely by shootings from the past decade — all but one from the past five years.

Fifty-eight people were killed in the Las Vegas shooting. The Orlando nightclub shooting last year, 49. The 2007 Virginia Tech shooting, 32. The 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, 27. As of Sunday, the fifth-deadliest mass shooting since World War II is the attack on a Baptist church in tiny Sutherland Springs, Tex., which killed 26 people.

Columbine was the first mass shooting in nearly eight years that killed 10 or more people — and after 1999, seven years would pass without one. Today, such gaps are unthinkable. Five of the past six years have included at least one shooting with 10 or more casualties.

Do you think Eric and Dylan used pick up lines while trying to get a girl?

You got to be kidding me, right?   These two weren’t smooth enough for such things.  Though, of the two, I’m sure Rebby took a stab at it on a few occasions all the while failing miserably at it. We do know that he complimented girls and such.  And he paid extra special attention to female customers that walked into Blackjack pizza. So, he was working what little magic he had.,though I doubt any of it was ‘smooth’.   Dylan, on the other hand, probably wouldn’t have gotten past ‘uhh…soo.. “  *nervously combs hand through his hair yet again* lol

Do you think dylan or eric, would’ve liked anime? The most popular ones like one punch man, and shingeki no kyojin?

No, the actual Eric and Dylan from the late nineties weren’t into anime. There is no mention of this from them anywhere.  If they were hypothetically living today, would they like it?   That’s up for anyone to have a guess at. Anime is a pretty big thing now but the hypothetical  2017 version of Eric and Dylan would be vastly different from the Eric and Dylan of what we know from eighteen years ago,  simply because of current advancement of technology, entirely different trends coverying a variety of vastly different pop cultural influences of today versus the nineties.  Mind you, I’m not saying anime was exactly obscure in the late nineties – just that it’s not as popular on a mainstream level in the US as it appears to be currently.

You get a lot of questions about Eric & Dylan and you’ve picked up so much throughout your years of looking into the case. Whats the most interesting thing you’ve learned so far?

That’s honestly a very tough question because there is so much about this case and those boys that is of ‘interest’.  It’d be too difficult to filter out one top thing, honestly. But one that comes to mind off the top of my head: I especially enjoy little quirky details such as Sue’s anecdote in her book of Dylan making a point of showing her his flask after he got home from the prom in the middle of the night. It’s puzzling behavior that makes you eternally pause and reflect on the variety of reasons for him to do this.  I don’t know about it being “The most interesting thing” but it’s what popped into my head as being a very interesting thing.  Sorry if that wasn’t the most satisfying answer to your question! 🙂

Why did Chad start hooking Eric up with girls? Do you think he asked or Chad just offered?

My feeling about Chad is that he was great with girls.  He had a lot of girls that were friends and he was experienced with dating and understood girls and their Yin energy. 🙂  He was sort of a ‘chick magnet’ if you will, and so Eric (with Dylan) looked to him as a resource for finding women. lol  I think Chad probably offered Sasha Jacobs at first and so when that didn’t work out, Eric asked Chad for more hook-ups because of his rep.
