I think the term ‘fetish’ is often thrown around loosely as in a certain particular something that someone is really, really into and has a fascination for and so the ‘turn-on’ here isn’t always necessarily a sexually related kink type thing. TCM dudes often talked about weapons and some carried knives on their person; Chris Morris was known to have visibly brandished them on occasion to look threatening.  I”m sure Dylan must have gotten into collecting a few and it was a bonus if people knew he had them because he liked the idea they knew he was ‘into them’.  Made him cooler and edgier. It’s either a case of someone overhearing him talk enthusiastically about his knives and starting the rumor that ‘Dylan Klebold must have a fetish for knives the way he’s always talking about his collection’  – or –  Dylan himself boasted that he had a fetish for knives and he dug acquiring the rumor spreading about his reputation. I do think though that Dylan did have a fascination for knives, more than guns, and he throws out the half-baked idea to REB whether they ought to use their knives and cut someone during the massacre. However, it ended up being vocalized more as psychological terror for those listening to the boys discuss what they were planning to do.  I get the sense that Dylan had idle curiosity as to what it might feel like to use a knife to cut someone else as oppose to how it felt to cut himself.  

Yeah, sure, most definitely.  That’s what you do when you’re living in Colorado, you know?  He and Eric would sometimes head up to the mountains alone or with other friends.  Plus Dylan hiked with his dad around his canyon filled home grounds.

I also believe that it was Dylan, not Eric, that wrote ‘Just a day’ about his fond memories of a fishing trip up in the mountains with his dad and brother.

Byron Klebold [010524] Dylan appeared to be somewhat detached and he went on to explain that as a “pissed off teenager.” Byron went on to state that Dylan gave no indication to believe that something like this was going to occur. He indicated that Dylan had knives but to his knowledge had no other weapons.

I tend to think that Dylan would reserve that special knife for just such the occasion when he was in that mood and drinking. Preference it over a razor blade, yeah..

Why so defensive? Well basically I would be too if I were hounded the way Marla has been. Just because she has a connection to Columbine and knew Dylan as a friend doesn’t mean she is obligated to be an open book and be forthcoming about everything with prying strangers – regardless of whether she was ‘the one’. The fact that she doesn’t speak up doesn’t really allude anything other than she wants to remain private about her experience with Columbine and people are not being respectful of her. Honestly, she is no different from the rest that were there at Columbine when it went down. Most are pretty much private and guarded and constantly changing their handles on their social media to avoid unwanted attention.

Most people think Marla is The One and while you’re entitled to your opinion, it’s just that – an opinion to add to all others out there. 😉 Course, we can’t deny also that Marla was probably One of Four (or Five or Six) of Dylan’s Halcyon Harem. 😏 Speculation is all that can really be done based on all the redacted evidence that was released. I’d say that’s an accurate statement for both regardless of their sun signs. They just thought about ‘it’ differently though.

This is a conspiracy theory that arose from the van theft break-in on January 30, 1998 which connects the dots that Deputy Tim Walsh raped either or both Eric and Dylan in the midst of their arrest in Deer Creek Canyon Rd/Park and that the boys endured being molested in a secluded park area by Walsh and thus the two became extremely angry and hell bent on revenge against authority and driven to ‘kill all cops’.

Mark Taylor’s mother, Donna, has run with this conspiracy theory and has attempted to spin the rape story as fact and a very large contributing factor as to why the boys did the massacre and that is is the hidden, secret ‘truth behind Columbine’ and why Jeffco has spent a great deal of time trying to cover things up. Like all conspiracy theorist, just one theory is never satisfying enough. Donna Taylor has ‘uncovered’ and interwoven a can of worms of other conspiracy theories connected to Columbine. The Taylor’s and their investigator give details through their website “Columbine Family Request” regarding the “walsh butt rape file” theory and other proposed Columbine related theories related to pharmaceutical drug companies, sex and witchcraft even (this is Littleton after all..) can be found here.

My personal belief about January 30th is far less convoluted. The boys hated that they were caught for their arrest for the van theft and felt embarassed, shamed and bested by the cops. They had to submit to the authorities for the entire year being processed through the diversion program and jumping through all of it’s various hoops of rules and regulations. So, this particular ‘January Incident’ was a large catalyst that fueled their desire to make a more serious, concerted effort to plan NBK, an anti-authoritarian strike to get revenge on The Pigs, their toxic school culture and and by extension, human society and it’s rules.

Well, it’d be quite the unrequited Jane Austen-esque tale for Sir. Dylan Bennet to be hopelessly pining after Miss Devon who was truly, madly, deeply in love with Mr. Zack..

I’ll just ignore the double entendre and just answer it this way: Eric wasn’t Dylan’s first choice to go NBK with.

Eric was bossy by nature. Any friend that managed to hang out with the dude long enough and for that many years, as Dylan had done, needed to have enough tolerance. Up to a point, any way. When Dylan hit his limit, Eric backed down, gave it a break with the ‘tude and respected those boundaries. Dylan was his most faithful friend, piss him off enough and I think Eric would’ve realized he’d blown it and lost all his friends let alone the truest he’d ever made in Littleton. This really is not a question of whether Dylan was a follower or not. It was more that Dylan gave Eric a long leash and was fine with letting him feel in charge until he wasn’t fine with it and pushed back. A good example of this is the time Amanda Semm ran into Dylan’s BMW in the senior parking lot. Eric barked at the girl and Dylan basically ordered Eric to ‘get back in the car’. Eric took the hint and did just that. Instead of bickering with Eric in front of the girl, which would’ve likely have made matters worse, Dylan simply made his point that Eric needs to stop being an asshole by telling him to extricate himself since he’d done enough damage yelling at the girl who was already an emotional wreck over a mere accident. It was a class act way of handling his mercurial friend without turning it into a fight between them as well. Dylan had a more of subtle power dynamic in their friendship even though it appeared outwardly that Eric was in the driver’s seat.

Of all the places Dyl could visit, Columbine would probably be the least likely one that he’d check in on. Though, when Devon was there her last two years there after the massacre, he did check in on her when she was having a bad day. Dylan’s also been known to make his presence known in the catwalk of the theater area with more recent times. I’d say the theater area probably has the most welcoming feeling for him with the closest sense of belonging in the entirety of the school. Hanging out with the off-beat creative theater geeks, imagining/drafting screenplays with Brooks, working sound design while Zack rigged the lights, spending time up in the sound booth goofing off with friends..Devon, Brooks, Zack.. and writing stuff on the walls, getting drunk after rehearsals.. that type of thing. Not much rules and regulations in theater, more a freeing environment to express individuality. But overall, these days? I expect there’s not much reason to go back and dwell on that past existence, well, as much, anymore. It’s like he’s moving on past his past and evolving above and beyond the confining weighted concept that is..was known as ‘Dylan Klebold’. The burden is forever but he doesn’t have to be just and only that as a spirit, I suppose?
