Eric: Hey, weren’t you wearing a different shirt this morning?
Dylan: Yeah?
Eric: oh.“I was trying not to laugh….”
“Sucks about the mom in there” Aww, Dyl. Only you would remember dear ol’ mom sitting at the breakfast table. lol

Halcyon On and On
On Orbital’s second eponymous 1993 album the track “Halcyon + on + on” appears, a slightly more upbeat and melodic remix of the original song. In contrast to the original, the remix is far more widely known, and has been featured on several movie soundtracks (most notably Mortal Kombat, Hackers, CKY2K and Mean Girls).
Eric mentions liking “Orbital” pg(26189) and purchased from Angelo’s Records both the “Orbital” (’92) and “Snivilisation” (’’94) cds pg (26187)
There are numerous references to “Halcyon” by Dylan pg (26406), (26412) and (26414) and given that Orbital is “Techno and Trance” style music, it is quite likely he was familiar with the song from their recent albums and began adopting the term in his writings and putting his own spin on it as a kind of “heaven” or “paradise” state of mind/existence that awaited him, and his True Love, upon leaving this life. I would bet that the two went to see the Mortal Kombat movie and heard this featured song. We know Dylan had played Mortal Kombat as a kid with Brooks Brown.
Sad to say, Eric and Dylan would not have seen Orbital in concert. Oddly, Orbital had a fairly limited US tour in the nineties even though techno and raves were a pretty big thing. The bulk of their touring was in the UK and other Euro-International locations. Apparently, Orbital only visited Denver at the Ogden Theatre in ‘93 and the last time in 2001. ‘93 would’ve put the boys in Jr. HS and it’s doubtfully they had gotten into this type of music at this point in time let alone been allowed to go to a concert at that age. In any case, there is no mentioning that they ever saw Orbital live.
The live video I selected above is from ‘94 in Glastonbury England.

A little side note: Orbital happens to be a fav of mine. 😉
I made a video to commemorate the Columbine tragedy. If you’re a columbiner, I hope you appreciate this! (P.S. please don’t steal, I worked really hard on this)

There’s nothing else.. there’s nothing else.. 💕💫💖💫💕
Happy Saturday y’all☀️
At last! I’ve located the 60 Minutes interview featuring that Nate Dykeman interview. Among other goodies; 🙂
1:12 sharper senior photos of Eric posed by the bench
30:04 – Brooks Brown, Randy and Judy Brown interviews
35:51 – two more clearer Eric senior photo
34:02 – Nate Dykeman interview (yes that one!)
34:44 – Devon Adams interview – reported Eric to the school; clearly no love.
I found this 60 minutes to be pretty interesting thorough show. They really pursue and demonstrate to us how unquestionably poor Jeffco police/SWAT handled Columbine. Lives were lost due to their lack of action. They justify it as following the protocol they had in place which is basically a passive ‘wait and see’ response but no adequate excuses can be given to justify the lives that were lost because of their lack of flexibility in an emergency situation. Their fuck up cost their own children’s lives. Some of those cops had children in that school too! The poor parents, two years in and filled with grief, still do not understand how police could’ve stayed outside waiting hours to get the green light to go into the school and do their job. Even then, the cops went in on the far/east side of the school (where none of the action occurred) and slowly combed through. Such a waste of time and resources. Today, Eric and Dylan would not at all have had the upper hand they were given by the authorities back in ‘99. It’s amazing when you think of E and D walking around lazily in the cafeteria trying to get the bombs to explode when they could clearly see the cops surrounding the school from the cafeteria windows. They must have continually wondered why in the back of their minds that no confrontation was happening. They were ruling the roost for far longer than any school shooter today would be allowed to.
Rest easy, Vodka. I hope you’re finally at peace.
Dylan Bennett Klebold
September 11, 1981- April 20, 1999.
Last Mother’s Day memory.. 💔
What do you miss about Dylan?
“I just – miss everything about him. I can still hear his voice very clearly in my
head, and his laugh. I miss talking to him. He’s very funny and he made me
laugh. Today I was pacing in my room,
and I kind of you know, thinking about things and *I noticed I gesture that he
did – he clicked his fingers when he was nervous and was thinking. Those are
many things I think about him and as a young child he was an exceptionally
bright, precocious child and I was so proud of him. He made me feel like such a
good mom because he was such a good little guy and so good at everything he
did. I miss that feeling..of safety and pride.. because of course, what he did,
changed all of that.”
The last time you said goodbye to Dylan, you were worried about him. If you could
go back and say anything to your son on that day, what would you say?
“My fantasy is that I literally tackle
him…stop him from going out the door.
Just sit with him and say: “I’m not going anywhere until you talk to me
and tell me what’s happening.” I don’t
know if it would’ve worked or not but that was my fantasy. My fantasy was to
prevent him from going out that door.”
*We know very well how Dyl snapped his fingers in a couple of the video productions. 🙂
um so i was working on something else but decided to make a (kind of) tribute?

@dylnvodka I am honestly crying rn
Goodbye world
Columbine poignantly captured 💔
First glimpse inside the CHS April 17, ‘99 prom with it’s ‘New York, New York’ casino theme in the gymnasium..and also, brief photo of Dylan in his tux (that we’ve seen before). His hair looks very flaxen blonde in the photo. 🙂
Randy Brown on how to stop..no, prevent school shootings.
Many wise salient points. Amen!
Classic reblog. since we’re on the topic of bullying..
Randy discusses how the toxic climate at CHS with all the bullying that went on daily was a significant, contributing factor in having a negative, altering impact on Eric and Dylan to the point where they decided to attack their entire school as the ‘enemy’. They didn’t want to bother going after specific individuals or groups but instead the entire school and system as literally a malignant cancerous tumor that needed to be removed and taken out. The jocks acted like bullying thugs that owned the school and over time, the boys patterned some of those gang-like behaviors themselves to cope on the offense. It was also a way to displace unresolved anger and humiliation on to others – a way to play ‘kick the dog’ on others that seemed weaker than themselves. During the times they weren’t posturing back trying to act tough and scary in a trench and shades as if to essentially be wearing a sign that says ‘don’t fuck with me’, they were very much on the defense most of the time at school in fear of what situation might arise next around the corner. As jocks approached from the opposite end of the hallway, Eric tries to bravely stay the course but ducks his head in an fearful, submissive posturing as the threat-group barrels by directly into he and his friend’s personal space. From Sue’s book, it becomes subtly clear in retrospect, that Dylan had developed hypervigilance in a defensive, reactive response to having been made fun of as a freak outcast in the school environment Of course, that doesn’t excuse or justify their bullying behavior when they did dish it out. It just demonstrates how bullying is a learned behavior and often becomes like a contagious, vicious cycle passed from bully to victim who often then models bully behavior themselves. In this particular situation, Eric and Dylan decided to become the ultimate bullies in the end, acting out in a dramatic, hyper offensive response. Randy believes that the bullying factor should not be downplayed and I tend to agree. It is certain not the only reason they did the massacre but this is a central, foundational factor that should never be minimized or disregarded altogether.
Of course this manner of approaching this event is opposite of Dave Cullen’s agenda which he started implementing in 2009 with his book release. Cullen flat-out claimed that bullying as a motivator is hogwash and since the media hyped his book as ‘the definitive source’, everyone flat-out took his word for it. He claims there is no evidence to support the boys having been bullied but the reality is, he’s glossing over the many claims there were. All he’d have to do is go around and actually interview their friends, associates and classmates who were actually there and experienced it first hand. Plus, there’s the fact that the boys stated vocally repeatedly to their victims during the massacre the reason they were doing what they were. Regardless of whether the two were doing a very effective, targeted job at their revenge, they were continually establishing the reasoning and intent for their wrath.

In this clip there is a “new”, of sorts, video clip from the theater on the Brown’s computer monitor filmed at a distance for this doc. Zack (or whoever this may be) is making a exaggerated, over-the-top “yessir!” nod to Dylan. The two are likely goofing off while going over the lights/sound aspects of the play. The Browns dialog that Dylan is laughing and joking around with the crew and it’s so incongruous because he was secretly planning to kill many classmates which would probably include some of his own theater crew that he enjoyed hanging around with.
In the backdrop is an unknown girl actress in an old fashion dress costume walking forward behind Dylan. She has a gown with puffed sleeves and her hair is made up period style. This is likely the Frankenstein play (placing this around Nov/Dec ‘98) since Brooks had a big hand directing the play and also acted as a very central character as Frankenstein’s monster and it would make sense why his parents were filming this so concertedly.
As Dylan walks off the stage, the very last person on the end stairs is probably Brooks. You can see Randy Brown filming at the very edge.

This is the reason Dylan appears extremely tall next to everyone else! When I attended a conference at Columbine last summer, I noticed this platform in the orchestra pit. It confirmed my suspicions that Dylan was standing on this while the crew was milling about him making him appear a good foot taller than everyone.

This is a documentary about The Chemical Brothers playing Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado with Fatboy Slim in 1999.
Dylan made plans to attend this concert with Devon Adams, but as it took place on July 17, 1999, obviously he never made it.
It’s simultaneously beautiful and terribly sad to see Dylan’s favourite band posing on those iconic Colorado red rocks, just like the ones surrounding Dylan’s home, that he posed against for his senior year photos.
I wonder how many in that enormous crowd had connections to Columbine? Funny how even an upbeat music documentary can be a reminder how life goes on, and how it also should have gone so differently 😦
💙😔In an alternate universe..💫 This was literally 3 months after the massacre.
I watched Zero Hour and surprisingly found myself sobbing hysterically at the very ending where they showed clips of the boys that made them look horrible but those same clips were taken from these dorky videos. I just felt they should be shown in a human light as well so I compiled this.
Simply teenage boys 💕goofing around in the before.
“none of you can touch us”
music
“You can’t understand what we feel; you can’t understand no matter how much you think you can.”
I actually think this was done quite well and slam dunks the intensity of E & D’s collective pent up primal (scream) RAGE and the the desire for revenge and dominion that the two shared.
Really spot on @rebdomine-rebismine !
The Morning Ritual cut/uncut comparisons
Clip One is the edited version (the usual one we see online). The music swells and masks over their convo.
Clip Two includes the evidence of an unedited audio version with faint bits of Dylan and Nate chatting in as they drive around the parking lot talking about parking spaces. Nate says “parking lot” and Dylan says “..space. heh.”
This was in the 2002 A&E documentary called Columbine: Understanding Why in which a Threat Assessment Task Force comprised of various psych experts collaborate and try to examine the psyche of the boys and to try and pinpoint their motivations.

Rampart Range part 1.
March 6, 1999 – March 6, 2017 – Rampart Range 18 years ago today.
The best part of this clip is the beginning where the two boys aren’t acting a scene but simply conversing as friends. 🙂
