do you think Dylan watched (or would have liked) the movie Gattaca?

Yeah, I think he may have watched and would have liked Gattaca. It has a kind of cross between The Matrix and David Lynch surreal sort of feel to it and also stars Uma Thurman who was big at the time after Pulp Fiction.

Vincent Freeman (Ethan Hawke) has always fantasized about traveling into outer space, but is grounded by his status as a genetically inferior “in-valid.” He decides to fight his fate by purchasing the genes of Jerome Morrow (Jude Law), a laboratory-engineered “valid.” He assumes Jerome’s DNA identity and joins the Gattaca space program, where he falls in love with Irene (Uma Thurman). An investigation into the death of a Gattaca officer (Gore Vidal) complicates Vincent’s plans.

Think Eric would’ve liked the premise too.

After the van-breaking Dylan started to distance himself from Eric asking his mother to make excuses right ? Why did he stop staying away from Eric ?

After the weeks went by, and his parents lightened up on their scrutiny of him in having ground him, the routine of everyday life slowly began to return to normal over a few months. Even though Dylan may have been purposefully avoided seeing Eric – at least, trying a weak go of it while at home, he still saw Eric at school and at Blackjack. Tom and Sue didn’t want to continue to hinder tbeir son’s social life which they thought was healthy and important for him to have as shy, introvert.  Sue also mentioned in her book that she and Eric’s mom discussed the possibility of separating the two boys for good but Kathy stated her case that Dylan was pretty much Eric’s only close friend. So, the two agreed that their boys could still associate with one another. So, eventually they were back to Rock n’ Bowl on the weekends too (and other shenanigans) and just basically being back together. What Eric had begun to call his ‘clan’ – basically now just the two of them minus Zack. By spring, Eric heavily began to give Zack the cold shoulder.  Zack never understood what happened as it was like Eric flicked the off switch with him.

So, not only did Eric need Dylan as a friend since he had no other tight relationships (in having burned bridges with them), Dylan needed Eric too at the most vulnerable point of his life during that bumpy, rough year. . Even though Dylan and Zack still remained friends, and still spoke on the phone at night together, Dylan still felt the sting of abandonment. He was depressed and lonely.  In his mind, he felt if he consciously gave up Eric too, he’d be purposely pulling away from the only close dude friendship he felt he had left after having let Zack go his way with Devon. More than anything, Dylan feared being left all alone and having no one in his life.  So, after the reprieve of their friendship, the two bonded even tighter than before, after the van theft arrest. They were stuck together like glue in their humiliation with getting arrested, put in the Diversion program for a year and managing the bullying that went on the school together.   It  had become now like an ‘us against the world’ friendship fusion. Resistance was futile within their co-dependent relationship.  Now, nothing would ever part them again..except of course, death.

On Dylan’s hate list what did you think he meant by “Ricki Lake people”

Dumber than a box of rocks, trailer trashy people that are on the ‘Ricki Show’ with an audience demographic like here and here and often had horrible musical boy bands like Hanson and this.. lol    I’m sure you can imagine Dyl and Rebby flipping through on the channel changer and landing on one of those shows and then mock imitating it for an entire week at work and school as the best of the worst of worthless, stupid humans.

I see a E & D sketch coming on for this.. Where oh where is our beloved @rainflesh.lol

Reading an article about killers and animal cruelty and it said that Eric and Dylan “bragged about mutilating animals to their friends”. That’s not true at all is it? Where did they get that from??

I saw a post from PETA and it said that Eric and Dylan abused animals and told this to friends. Is this true? I don’t usually trust information PETA brings out, especially with this kind of subject. I figured you’d know a bit more 🙂 have a nice day too! x

Oh my god you JUST posted about it! Never mind the PETA ask! Haha 😀

That article is misinformation. If the author had bothered to read their journals, particularly Eric’s, they wouldn’t have written such fake news. Hogwash, I say! See here.

Hello miss e-c! Do you think Eric was as depressed as Dylan and wanted to die as much as him?

Eric was depressed but in a differing way than Dylan. Dylan’s center point focus was his suicide and the homicide was secondary.  Eric’s center point was the thoughts of homicide with the suicide being secondary and sort of an afterthought that made sense to him after he fulfilled the homicidal desires.  He wanted to die as much because he expected to die during NBK. There was no question about it that he would not live beyond that day once they’d entered the school. He also ended up taking his life first. So, yes, he was depressed about himself, he hated his life and considered this HOE (’Hell on Earth’). He failed at getting the bombs to blow, he fucked up his nose with his gun. Everything hurt like hell and was crashing down all around him. So, yes, he wanted to die.

When I asked how many reported I meant of pets sorry I didn’t read my question before I sent it in I meant how many pets did they have.

lol  Good. I’m going to delete my answer to that previous Q. Please make sure you send me fully formed questions – that make complete sense – because I’m just sitting here literally scratching my head..

Dylan – Four pets – two cats (Rock and Lucy) and two birds.
Eric – one dog (Sparky)
