Any idea what Dyl was printing that was more than 10 pages?

I believe your question is in reference to this post?

What he was printing?  Oh, I don’t know, let’s see. maybe it was something along the lines of Dyl having printer issues at home and needing to print his “Senior Predictions” report that may have been a tad beyond 10 pages and Peggy Dodd, the computer lab assistant was being a tight wad, rigid control freak and so it pissed him off?   Yeah, probably something along those lines..  In any case, Dylan was flouting the rules and not giving two fucks while pushing the envelope with computer lab staff ever since he and Eric had a progressively bad history with Peggy Dodd and Rich Long when they fell from grace with the locker hacking incident in October of ‘97 their Junior year. Per Sue’s book,  The Dean wanted severe consequences for their actions and Dylan, Zack and Eric were suspended (Dylan and Zack for 5 days, Eric for 3) and Rich Long spoke with Sue and Dylan. “..what came next, however, was more painful for Dylan than the suspension: the teacher told Dylan he could no longer help with the school’s computers”.

The boys drew a caricature of their despised Computer lab assistant, Peggy Dodd lording over them for their computer ID card and revoking their permission to use the lab.  They even have her accent in asking for the ‘carduh’ lol

Peggy Dodd observed Dylan in a long black coat, shooting his gun and smiling. Peggy stated that it was “More of a  smirk than a smile”

I’m sure you’ve pondered this at length before, but what is your take on Dylan being the one to give Brooks Eric’s website address? I know Brooks says it could have just been that Dylan thought it was funny and wanted him to see it as well, or that Eric was the one who told Dylan to give it to Brooks, but just the fact that Dylan told him that Eric could not know he was the one who gave it to him just is too striking for me to ignore.

Agreed, it is far too striking to be ignored.  Quite telling actually..
I discussed my feeling about this here.

I know there’s a lot to be said about how much a girl would have to work to really reach Dylan. And some point out the fact Eric could have been an obstcale. However, I always get the sense that Tom could have been the biggest obstacle of all. He could have viewed any girl getting Dylan’s attention as a threat as well as veering him off the course Tom wanted him to remain on.

Hmm..  That’s an interesting theory but I don’t really get that feeling about Tom in his relationship with Dylan.  Thanks for sharing that though. 🙂

In his love letter Dylan says he’d “find a way to live, happy, know you loved me”. Had he sent the letter, had the girl, the girl he wanted, the girl he liked, fancied, returned his feelings, would have anything change? Or would he go NBK with Eric? I’d think he’d put a stop on the plans not wanting her to leave her behind, assuming she’d not be thrilled about he idea of going on a killing spree and then killing herself with him for love.

If Dylan worked up the nerve and actually sent the love letter and the girl he was infatuated with returned his feelings, he most certain would not be going NBK..at least.. not any time in the near future. His staying here and not throwing everything away was hinged on finding his love and having his feelings reciprocated.

It’s clear as day in his letter:

“ I want to go to a new existence. You know what I mean. (Suicide) I  have nothing to live for, & I won’t be able to survive in this world after this legal conviction. However, if it was true that you loved me as I do you,… I would find a way to survive. Anything to be with you.  I would enjoy life knowing that you loved me.”

Hate to burst your bubble but 90% of the guys on Erics Shit List graduated a year before Columbine, including Rocky. Targeting their bullies was in the back of their mind.

You’re confusing their

Class of ‘98 Top of the “Should Have Died” list

which listed Rocky, some of his friends and students born ‘79 to ‘80 (see below)

with Eric’s regular Shit List

which included 30 classmates and jocks at or below his own grade level plus despised teachers.

At any rate, I’d strongly disagree with the statement “targeting their bullies was on the back of their mind.”

why do u think Dylan only said goodbye to sue in the last video?

Well, for one thing, the boys were rushed filming their goodbyes as they were running late the morning of 4/20.  So, you could say Dylan just hastily said goodbye and excluded addressing his dad and brother and only mentioned mom in his short speech. Thing is though, at the same time, it seems intentional to me that he specifically only chose to address “Hey mom”.   I mean, how hard would it be to say “hey, mom, dad, Bryon” in his short speech?   I believe that Dylan omitted addressing his dad because that was a message in itself by ignoring him.  By not including dad, it was like making a passive-aggressive statement that he was still harboring resentments about his father. Things that happened between the two had built up and had never been addressed and resolved.  It’s as though Dylan seemed to feel the best way to address dad in saying goodbye was to not address him at all, to snub him.  Sue has mentioned that it is a small comfort to her that she hears Dylan addressing her in his goodbye. She clings to that.  Whereas for Tom, I’m sure it hurt him deeply to the core having been ignored.  What did that say about the son he loved so dearly that he thought the two were best friends and so much alike?  How could his number one buddy, baseball and sports page fan and chess partner forget to include him in his goodbye?  Dylan’s refrain speaks volumes to dad.   The truth is, father and son had a completely opposite viewpoint of their relationship together.  See my post here Like father; like son.

In the end, dylans focus was on himself getting out, but why do u think he started becoming distant with his parents? Eg not having dinner with them or spending the day together in his last few nights..

Dylan disconnected himself from his family at home in part due to his tendency towards isolating himself because of his depression and apathy but also partly out of a deliberate sense of not wanting to reestablish any sort of close bonding with his family.  There seems to be evidence too based on the neighbors that lived by the Harris house that in the last few months, Dylan’s car was always seen at Eric’s house parked on the curb in the afternoon. This seems to suggest that he was spending less time with his dad after classes got out early afternoon and spending more time with Eric at his house, while his parents were still working, likely finalizing NBK plans.   Holding himself back and distancing himself would make it easier when the time came to literally walk out the door and leave his family and home behind forever.

Do you think the thought of killing Tom and Sue during the early hours of 4/20 crossed Dylan’s mind? It could have even been a mercy kililng his mind to spare them the fallout of his choices.

No, I definitely don’t get the sense that Dylan ever even entertained the idea of killing his parents at all not even once or on the morning of 4/20. But you see, Dylan was very self absorbed in those last few weeks, days and hours leading up. He really was more focused on doing what was necessary to end his pain and be free and so he was almost naive and out-of-touch as to how devastating this would be for his family. He knew it would cause trouble for them, yes, but I believe when he said on the last “goodbye” Basement Tape “I just wanted to apologize to you guys for any crap this might instigate as far as [inaudible] or something.” that he was thinking about external repercussions that would befall them with the police and the media, etc. He really didn’t reflect on the fact that his actions, and his own death, would destroy his parents and brother so emotionally that weeks after the tragedy that they strongly considered taking their own lives too to end their torment and suffering. He didn’t consider killing them because he didn’t have the depth or presence of mind to even consider that killing them might be an act of mercy. Dylan loved his parents; he knew he had a good set of parents compared to most kids and that they’d always been there for him. He simply left them behind to commit his crime and then end his life.

If Dylan had lost his virginity to a girlfriend, would he have told or bragged to his friends about it? Or would that be private and special between them?

Are you kidding? Private and special between them. Not one to brag about such things, let alone divulge details with his dude friends which would only embarrass him.

Though, I think it’d be already fairly obvious to friends seeing Dylan having some extra pep in his bouncy step and a glow of radiance in his smile that the dude is gettin’ some. 😏

This isn’t 100% Columbine related. But wasn’t being a virgin supposed to be a trendy thing? Or was it just female popstars? They feel the same way about relationships 17 years ago at Columbine high school, than they are now.

Virginity and things like Purity Rings is a thing in Christian communities and that probably was the case with many of the Fundamentalist Christians in Littleton. This no doubt would’ve been a practice coveted by Rachel Scott and quite a few others at Columbine.  But in general, for the non-religious or secular community, virginity is generally not seen as something students would’ve let proudly be known let alone ‘trendy’ *cringes* . Horrible word for that. And most boys in high school – religious or not – in general,  do not want to divulge if they’re virgins or not regardless.  So, virginity being ‘trendy’ in 1999 and not now?  No, not really.

Do you think Eric and Dylan had they grown up in this generation, and going to high school in 2016 feel more pressured? With the state of bullying now, relationships and school/careers?

It’d be far worse for Eric and Dylan in 2016. The performance pressure is much more demanding now than it was in 1999.  There is huge emphasis on getting competitive top academic grades that meet the demands of their particular school along with a strong emphasis and pressure on choosing universities far earlier than back in the day. Truancy is taken much more seriously so students can’t be ditching classes whenever they feel like it in this decade.   Add to the mix, the usual cliques, bullying and ostracizing which has really been addressed effectively and still goes on quite regularly even still to this day at Columbine HS, and you have got a pressure cooker for those two motivating them on a fast track to destruction.
